Bad news for signing Woodley to anything moderately priced.
Why do some teams just have to keep ruining it for the rest of the league?

DE i think. Is that $12 million for 6 years or $12 million per year for six years?

Carolina / Johnson ruin it for DEs and OLBs
Tampa / Houston / Nnamdi will ruin CBs
Indy / Manning will ruin QBs
Washington / Santonio will probably ruin the WR position
If positions get out of whack, all we can do is buck the trend and get better players at other positions.

that is 12 per. 72 million total with 30 million signing bonus.
He is a former 3rd round pick who has played 4 years, the first three as the back up to Julius Peppers.
Sack totals: 0, 6, 4, 11.5
It should at least be a rule that you can't make more in millions than you do in sacks per year if that's what you are being paid for.

Get used to it, with rookie contracts being considerably lower the Vets will now profit.

Good point. The new CBA saved them a bundle on Cam Newton.
The DE market has always been somewhat out of whack. Hopefully Woodley's agent realizes that DEs are payed differently than 3-4 OLBs.

Indy / Manning will ruin QBs
I don't expect Indy / Manning will ruin the QB market since any comparison would be "sure, but that was Peyton Manning."
The QB situation that I expect will ruin that position is Tampa Bay / Freeman. Tampa is so far below the salary floor that they will need to find a way to spend their money. Sure, they will go out and get some FAs, but they should still have a bundle left when it comes time to look at their own. They will overpay Freeman and that is when the rest of the "good not great" QBs expect the same. We are lucky that we are currently set at the position because I think that one goes out of whack.

Many vets profited because some rookie contacts were high. At the end of the day, these things have a way of balancing out.

they cleaned the books last year and where 60 million under the cap... they have money to burn and think this guy is the next Peppers...
The rumor in Charlotte is Miami and another team were going to throw big money at him. Stupid move if you ask me.
I don't see it but they also paid 20 million for 1 year of Delhomme after he threw 6 picks.
