Pittsburgh Penguins captain Sidney Crosby is "working out two times a day" and "progressing in his activity," coach Dan Bylsma said via the team's Twitter feed.

Bylsma also said Evgeni Malkin's rehab is "going extremely well." The coach said via the Twitter feed that Malkin is "ahead of schedule. He'll be ready to go in training camp."

Earlier this month, Crosby was cleared by team doctors to start offseason, off-ice workouts. Malkin had surgery in February to repair torn ligaments in his right knee.

Crosby played his last game on Jan. 5 and did not return for the Penguins as he recovered from a concussion. Pittsburgh advanced to the playoffs without him, but lost in the first round against Tampa Bay in seven games.

Though he played in just 41 games, Crosby, 23, still led the team with 32 goals and 66 points. Malkin, 24, had 15 goals and 22 assists in 43 games before his injury.

Without Crosby and Malkin, the Penguins took a 3-1 series lead against the Lightning before losing the final three games, including two at home.
