But how far do they really drop? Ballard was really on the rise as a 3-4 5-technique DE who was likely gonna be gone by the time our 2nd round pick came around....does this re-enter him into our draft plans?

We don't need another doper. We'd just end up trading him to the Jets.

For the Steelers? Very far. Like completely off their draft board.

Not to arhue but, the steelers have selected players before who have failed numerous drug tests. Remember Marvel Smith ? He was projected a sure fire top level 1st rounder until his failed tests. And we got him in round 2. Brenston Buckner was another one. So, it's not totally out of the question.

This isn't about the drug use per se, but rather the absolute stupidity. Perhaps if a guy tokes up when he's a college kid, and mans up to it during team interviews, then they might give that guy a shot. But if a guy is so braindead that he is smoking prior to the biggest job interview of his life...one that is potentially worth millions of dollars...when he knows that he is going to be tested while in Indy...wow...that guy is either so stupid that he should wear his football helmet 24 hours a day to protect what little brain he has left, or his is some kid of an addict. There are lapses of judgement, and then there is just people who are dumb, dumb, dumb, dumb, dumb.

Yes but Marvel failed his drug test at the combine. As we as one as a Sophmore. BTW, Marvel also was caught twice using drugs while as a Steeler. And he was never suspended by the Rooney's, or traded. Kinda makes them look like Hypocrites, doesn't it ?
