Hey Guys,

Perfect timing for once. I'm up in Pa. visiting family and I really want to go the game. How likely is it to be able to get tickets the day of the game? I've never bought tickets for the Steelers before and haven't been to Heinz yet.

What do you think ticket costs from a scalper will run? I'll need atleast two tickets. Obviously the cheaper the better.

I've pondered this myself. Winging it.

Last week I came by someone selling tickets outside the casino where I parked who had 2 tickets for sale for $75 each. Face value: $119 each

I think he was stuck with them

Back in 1996 I had an extra ticket to GIVE AWAY right before the game but found no one who needed it.

You never know!!

I've been checking online sites and it looks like 300 give or take 25$ for the upper levels.

I ended up with extra tickets last week and had to sell them before the game for below face value. The scalpers said that everyone had tickets and no one was buying. The same tickets were going for $100 over asking on ebay and stubhub a couple of days earlier.

If you are in town it can't hurt to see they are selling for before the game.

Did you end up selling them???
That wasn't you outside of the casino selling them was it??

I thought of going down this Sunday and looking for a deal. But 5 hrs. is a long way to go and fall short.

especially with the Jets coming to town.... I know we travel well but given the population of NYC I think it may be a little harder to get tickets.

Chavezz...definitely don't buy off the ticket broker or trading sites!

Hold out as long as you can. You will find plenty of tickets down by the stadium. Using the scalpers is like an art. My friend Skeelo (of photoshop fame) is like the master of this. He likes talking, so he just goes and lets his presence be known to a few different guys and tells them what he's looking for (which is usually waaaay undercutting what they are trying to get). Kinda just hangs around and talks the guy down after checking in with him every so often. Then BAM! He strikes. The scalpers usually start panicking the closer it gets to gametime.

But as I stated in the tailgate thread, your cheapest alternative is to try to find scalpers that have singles. They can never get rid of those so you should be able to get a really low price on them. Then, you just head into the stadium around when gates open, and grab yourself a spot on the rotunda/walkways. Great view, cheap, good access to bathrooms, etc. You just have to stand up, which when its that cold, is probably a good thing.

(I should note if I've offended anyone that has tried to sell their tickets on a stub hub type site, and get pi$$ed about scalpers, sorry. Just going with what the market is offering!)

Appreciate the heads up man. Its going to be tough but I think I'll wait until game day I guess. I'm a natural planner so it goes against my nature to wait but I've had a few tell me the same.thing thanks for the advice.

wait til the last minute and talk to everyone. you'll get a ticket under $100. and the longer you wait and the more you talk, the better your odds.

and i don't normally endorse this, but lie to the scalpers. these guys deserve it for taking advantage of fans. tell them you'll pay more than you're willing to get them to help you. then tell them you have a better offer from someone else that you don't. and tell them you're willing to wait even if you aren't.

get them hooked. tell them what they want to hear. get them working for you and wanting to please you. always be nice. and once they're hooked, flip the script and take them to the cleaners. most people will have tickets already when it comes down to the wire and they risk getting nothing.

you can always go to a bar close by at the last minute and you'll have a great time. and you can celebrate with everyone after. it'll be nuts and probably a better experience than the game.

you can't go wrong. unless you're a jinx on the team like me. :)

Thought about coming down for the game, but will prolly head over to a friend's house for it. Gonna be cold and Mrs. buckeyehoppy is not a big fan of standing out in the cold in the first place.

But I absolutely love the advice here. I've bookmarked this thread for future reference.

Chavezz, enjoy the game, no matter what you do.

Sheik and Flippy, you dudes are the best!
