The guy who told about our trick plays for Baltimore asked Tomlin if he could give some insight into how they were preparing for Rex Ryan's D.

Tomlin replied.."well it depends if you are going to give them our plays"

ESPN's reporter revealed part of Steelers game plan

For people who don’t know teams have production meetings with the various networks, where they will tell them some of the strategy they will employ on game day.

The understanding is that you never report about specific plays, you just speak in generalities, ESPN’s Bob Holtzman didn’t get that memo and I am sure the Steelers are not happy about it.

Bob Holtzman of ESPN reports that the Steelers will employ against the Ravens a trick play.

“Two Steelers have told me, if they catch the Ravens in the right defense, they have a trick play ready to go today that they’ve never run before.”

Holtzman said the play involves a pass thrown by someone who ordinarily doesn’t thrown the ball, and that receiver Antwaan Randle El will be involved in some way other than throwing the ball.

As one league source told us, unsolicited, regarding the report, “What a moron. Steelers will be pissed. How the f–k do you do that?”

What Holtzman should have said was something like this.

“The Steelers may have a trick or two up their sleeve against that aggressive Baltimore defense”

Instead he has put Baltimore on alert and anything that looks suspect they will be able to sniff out, in the grand scheme of things shouldn’t have an effect on the game, just some lazy journalism on Holtzman part.

Wonder if Holtzman is now Persona Non grata in the Steelers press room.

Wonder if ESPN has been given notice that he is no longer allowed press credentials...

would be interesting to know what kind of flak they got.

Sorry about the lack of info but I heard it on internet radio and couldn't decipher his name.

I remember a thread talking about the trick play that wouldn't involve Randle El that a player told this reporter and he made it public.

huh? I don't think it's malicious just a reporter rushing to break something new that no one else knows about.

Why any reporter would make this public is stupid though... whether this week or next year he would have to face our team and surely he knows he wouldn't get any info out of anyone.

Steelers' Mike Tomlin scolds ESPN's Bob Holtzman for talking plays
http://content.usatoday.com/communities ... ng-plays/1 (http://content.usatoday.com/communities/thehuddle/post/2011/01/steelers-mike-tomlin-scolds-espns-bob-holtzman-for-talking-plays/1)

PITTSBURGH -- The New York Jets and Pittsburgh Steelers aren't doing any trash talking, but Steelers coach Mike Tomlin fired a zinger Wednesday at ESPN reporter Bob Holtzman.

Before the Steelers' playoff game with the Baltimore Ravens on Saturday, Holtzman reported the Steelers might use a gadget play.

"Two Steelers have told me, if they catch the Ravens in the right defense, they have a trick play ready to go today that they've never run before," Holtzman said prior to the game. He added it was a play on which somebody who typically doesn't pass would throw the ball -- and that it wouldn't be passing wide receiver Antwaan Randle El.

At Tomlin's Wednesday news conference, Holtzman ask him how much extra time it takes to prepare for coach Rex Ryan's Jets defense.

"It depends on whether or not you give him my plays, you know," Tomlin said with steely eyes and without elaboration.

After the news conference, Holtzman declined comment on the matter.

Against Baltimore, QB Ben Roethlisberger was the lone Steeler to throw a pass. Pittsburgh did run two end around with WR Mike Wallace for minus two yards.

thanks for the clip Felt...

You know that is the problem I have with the media nowadays in total. There was a time when media outlets would print retractions/apologies when they did something wrong.

At the very least they should have removed Holtzman from covering the Steelers.

The arrogance of ESPN is grandiose...And as usual Mike Tomlin handled it with excellence.

I loved his stare down of Holtzman.
