Ok Planet...I am heading to Dallas on Thursday afternoon and will arrive sometime on Friday midday, I'd imagine. I don't know how I am going to do 20+ hrs in the car, but I'll manage. I am staying at the EconoLodge, about .8 of a mile from Cowboys Stadium. I want to set up a tailgate, but I have NO IDEA how that can happen. In Detroit, we just set up in a random lot and had at it for 8 hours. I have heard mixed stories about not allowing tailgating, so I need your help to figure everything out. Post any ideas here and LET's DO THIS!!!!!!!

Wish I could be there again, SN1. Awesome memories for SASF Junior and me at your tailgate!

I think it's a pretty good location, right near Mercy Behavioral Health. As the game comes closer, I'm becoming a basket case ... if I could make it to your tailgate for this game, I would probably need to stop in for a little therapy!

Do what we did last time. Just scalp singles (they will be very cheap...around $100 I bet) and try to get a good spot to stand on one of the circular walkways. Great view, quick access to bathroom/beer stand and cost effective. Downside is you have to stand, but adrenaline will take over and it won't matter.

I'll be at the game, but I don't know for sure what time we'll be arriving in the 'Burgh, so meeting up for a tailgate is still up in the air.

I planned to stop by to see SN1 and crew on the rotunda last game. I got into the stadium a few minutes after 3 and didn't see SN1's sign on either rotunda, so I assumed he was not there yet (I remember that he said that he was planning to go in around 3 instead of right when the stadium opens 2 hours before kickoff). It wasn't until I made it all the way up to my seats in the upper deck end zone that I noticed that SN1 was still able to camp out behind the goalposts in front of the extra stands that were put up for the Winter Classic.

Now that I know that SN1 is still able to set up shop at his usual spot, I will at least meet up with whoever is there prior to the game, even if I don't make it to the Mercy lot on Reedsdale & Fontella.

Jiga, are your AFCCG game tix up by me again?

I believe I'm in Section 523 Ruthless, so I'll catch up with you in the stadium if I don't
see you at the tailgate.

Not sure about the plans yet, but we'll probably be leaving my house no later than 12:00
so we should be there by 1:30. We're also tossing around the idea of leaving a littler earlier
and heading to the Rivers for some free parking. Was it 6 hours before game time?

Yeah, parking is free in the casino garage if you get there 6 hours before game time.

I wanted to come out on Saturday to see the Canes @ Pens at Consol too, but my Dad's work won't allow it (he already needs to take Sunday and Monday off...since we probably won't get home until 5:00 a.m. or so) so he could not work out getting Saturday off as well. I can pull off working tired on Monday behind a computer desk, but he can't pull off working a 12 hour shift on a factory line after that drive home. This was my one and only opportunity to see the Pens and Steelers together on the same weekend, and its a no-go.

I should know by tomorrow or Friday (I think) if we won the Super Bowl lottery again this year. Interestingly enough, my wife is in Dallas right now (she will be there until Monday) and she was in Detroit (well, a layover in their airport both to and from at least) a couple of weeks before XL, and she was in Florida (with me and the kids at Disney) a couple of weeks before XLIII. So that seems like a good sign to me.

I have no problem standing, in fact its better for my achy back.
My brother is a pain in the @ss.
How early do you have to get there to get a spot at the rail?
If you leave to use the bathroom do you lose your spot?

Get in there an hour or two before the game. You won't lose your spot if you have enough people with you. You said six...that should be plenty to kinda spread out and take up some extra space while a guy goes to the john or something. It worked pretty well. Great view too, almost prefer it to the seats I think (especially for the price).

That's a good omen Ruthless. Just like the history with my jiga children. Every time
I have a kid we win a Super Bowl.

I just checked out The Rivers and it's $25 for season ticket holders and $20 to park for
non season ticket holders. I might just pay the $25 to park near SN1's lot. I think his lot
is $35. How's the post game egress out of the casino parking lot? I'll have to be at work
at 5:00 A.M. so I want to get out of the lot as quickly as possible. Last time I parked in
SN1's lot it was the quickest I've ever gotten out of the city after a game. No traffic and
quick access to I-279.

Pete, I just head to the rotunda when they open the gates. No problem getting a spot if
you're among the first to get in. I wouldn't worry about losing your spot on the rail if you
go to the bathroom. The more people you have in your group the better. Just make
yourself bigger when someone leaves.

We parked on the 9th floor (stupid) and waited without moving at all for 20 minutes or so, which worried us. Once we got to the down ramp though, the traffic was moving pretty steadily, and we were out within the next 5-10 minutes after that.

Jig, my lot is 40 bucks for playoff games. Angelo parked in the casino lot for free last game, but said it was a pain getting out.

Pete,
The rotunda is $ as far as getting in a little later and not losing your spot during the game.

RB,
I am praying I win the lottery. Do you know how many tix the Steelers are allotted?

Well, if it's going to be a pain to get out of the casino and it costs $40 to park in your
lot, we'll probably just park in our normal spot around Ohio St. We catch some traffic
heading east, but once we get on 279 we're gone.

In the past, each team playing in the Super Bowl was alloted 17.5 percent of the tickets (the capacity of Cowboys Stadium is listed as having 80,000 seats, which comes out to 14,000 tickets).

However, they say they can fit an extra 30,000 or so more people in via standing room only party decks (It's only $29 general admission during the regular season to get in there, as opposed to the hundreds it costs for actual seats, but I've heard that if you aren't one of the lucky few to get a spot like you get on the rail, all that you'll see is the guy's head in front you). Not sure how they are going to figure that "Party Pass" stuff in for the Super Bowl.

I'd imagine that if we win the lottery, we get guaranteed seats (I've had better seats for both Super Bowls...lower level end zone...than I get at Heinz...upper level end zone.

For what it's worth, the largest crowd they got in there for football was 105,121 for a Giants game in September of 2009, and for the 2010 NBA All-Star game, they got 108,713.

NFL: 'We've never done this before'
By Calvin Watkins
ESPNDallas.com

If you want to attend Super Bowl XLV at Cowboys Stadium but can't get a ticket, the league is giving some fans a chance.

The NFL will sell a $200 ticket to the game, but it comes with a catch. Fans will have to sit on the grass on the East Side of the stadium and watch the game on the huge outside HD TV screens.

"We've never done this before," Brian McCarthy, the NFL's vice president of corporate communications, said Wednesday.

The offer has been extended to Cowboys Club Seat season ticket holders, and must be purchased in blocks of four. Those who purchase the block of tickets receive a free parking pass, four Super Bowl programs and four scarves.

Tickets to get inside the stadium start at $600 and range all the way to $1,900 for the lower level. Ticket brokers' prices are considerably higher.

Capacity for the game is still being determined, McCarthy said. The outside party plaza tickets will count toward the official attendance.

When the Cowboys play home games at Cowboys Stadium, they sell standing room only party plaza tickets -- located in each end zone -- on a first-come, first-served basis. Those tickets were counted among the team's official attendance.

Party plaza tickets for the Super Bowl will not have inside access to the stadium because the NFL is erecting temporary bleacher seating in the party pass areas.

Calvin Watkins covers the Cowboys for ESPNDallas.com.

Hey SN1, define rotunda......

We have 7 going now all together, I like the single ticket scalp idea because finding 7 together will be impossible...

How many different areas are there to stand all game at?
Can anyone point them out on a chart?
Thanks fellas and SN1 if its as cold as the SD Playoff game was, I'll be staying indoors.

The rotundas are the circular ramps on either side of the scoreboard at Gate A. Plenty of standing space there. Just get into the stadium early enough to stake out a prime spot.

http://www.thebrooklynnomad.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/09/Heinz_Field_Pittsburgh.jpg

SN1's sign is behind the goalposts in front of the scoreboard (there are some new temporary stands there now since the Winter Classic which the team plans to make permanent, but SN1 was still able to camp out there last weekend). It is much more crowded down there than on the rotundas.

http://www.nflfootballstadiums.com/images/Pittsburgh-Steelers-Stadium-Seating%20Chart.jpg

There is also some spots to stand in the opposite open corners of the stadium (by Gates B & C), but it is quite limited.

North end zone (opposite SN1's endzone) there's a "Mcdonalds I'm Lovin' it" sign at the top center
of the goal post. Go left to the next "I'm Lovin' it" sign and I'm in the second row right above

Unfortunately one in our group is a Packers fan. :? :tt2 :tt2

BTW, I live in Dallas so if you have any questions regarding the city let me know and I will do my best to answer. Arlington and/or FW, not so much. I plan on going to Sundance Square Friday morning to represent!
