I had to respond on another computer since I threw up on my regular one.

Disgusting which is exactly why Goodell will probably make it happen

Ugh, those are just awful. They take away everything that makes it the Steelers. I will say, the "steel floor" imprint on the helmets is interesting though.

UPDATE 1:45 p.m ET: CNBC’s sports business guru Darren Rovell says the Nike Patriots uniform is fake and that Nike did not design it. No word from Rovell on whether the other uniforms are also a scam or were indeed leaked from Nike. We'll let you know as soon as we know. Regardless, aren't these at least just sort of fun to look at?

UPDATE 2:00 p.m. ET: The Saints have now said that the uniforms were not designed by Nike and that the NFL will not be using them. We’ll go ahead and assume that all 32 uniforms are a scam. To whoever executed the scam…nice work. You got the reaction you wanted. Plus, you gave us all great fodder, so thanks.

these uniforms would be good to put on Power Rangers, but that's about it.

So... basically they leaked and the fan reactions has Nike backtracking from horrible designs.
Nike has combat designs for 8 college teams that look very much like these... darker colors and weird tattoo logo sleeves.

maybe they aren't the official ones but they fall in line with the designs of these uni's.

I would love to see the Steelers with these types of uni's and helmets if they do come up with gimmick uni's.

These were probably an original design and some lackey at Nike did not delete the file and sent it to deadspin. :D

You know, I never actually read that the STEELERS uni was a fake.

It better friggin' be.

First of all, it's green.

2nd - what is that stripe thing on the arm? :wft

And how come we get these roundy soft numbers, but the Browns get block letters?? :wft :wft

Why the rainbow on one sleeve for us? What, are the trying to use the helment symbol and concept on the sleeve? Looks gay. We don't have a rainbow on our helment.

I'd pray for a lockout if these uni's were the real deal.

I wouldn't mind a change in the uni's. Let's get something a bit more updated and cool. That said, I'm not really feeling the example here. I like some elements, but I can't say how much I hate the idea of gold helmets. It's bad enough we have to watch the team in those atrocious "throwback" helmets, but it would be weird pulling for a team that looked that stupid all the time.

that prototype was custom-designed for #22.

Isn't the uniform the players wear up to the team, or does Mao-Fidel dictate that as well?

Those are terrible uniforms! This is not the Arena League or UFL!

The Steelers should change up the throwbacks next year and wear uniforms that resemble the 74 and 75 Steelers w/gray facemasks and block numbers!!! Now that would be sweet!!

'Leaked' NFL uniform concepts are actually fan art
http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/blog/shutdo ... nfl-287637 (http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/blog/shutdown_corner/post/-quot-Leaked-quot-NFL-uniform-concepts-are-actu?urn=nfl-287637)
By Doug Farrar

Earlier this week, a post on the Baltimore Sun's Ravens message board had a post with links to images that purported to be Nike Pro Combat uniform designs for the 2012 NFL season. That's when Nike will replace Reebok as the league's uniform supplier, and Nike's Charlie Denson said in October of this year that the company "(plans) on changing the NFL jersey dramatically just like we've done with the college programs, using new thinking and the greatest technology available. The NFL program hasn't had the same type of advancement in recent years."

Those with fears that Nike would do to the NFL's uniforms what has been done to the on-field apparel of the Oregon Ducks' football team - a series of alternate uniforms, each more bizarre than the last - may have had those fears compounded by the images of the supposedly new NFL designs. The color schemes are interesting, to say the least, with teams like the Minnesota Vikings and Pittsburgh Steelers getting among the most drastic makeovers.

The new designs made their way around the internet, with responses running the gamut. But Yahoo! Sports has confirmed with a Nike source what has been reported elsewhere through the day -- the designs are not real, and the graphics have nothing whatsoever to do with whatever changes Nike may be making to the NFL uniforms. They are well-done but amateur-created art, most likely based on the current Pro Combat college uniform concepts. (That is to say, well-done for the most part -- whoever designed the new fake Kansas City Chiefs uni needs to go back to the drawing board).

There will be more information about the actual NFL uniforms in the near future, and Shutdown Corner will be on the scene. Stay tuned...

Nike 'Total Combat' uniforms will not be worn by Steelers; rumors false

* November 20th, 2010 7:50 pm ET

http://www.examiner.com/pittsburgh-stee ... mors-false (http://www.examiner.com/pittsburgh-steelers-in-pittsburgh/nike-total-combat-uniforms-will-not-be-worn-by-steelers-rumors-false)

20 November 2010

The internet was a virtual beehive with rumors Friday that Nike, the company that created the 'Total Combat' uniforms for several NCAA college football teams, would also be making new NFL uniforms available in 2012. An article about the college uniforms was featured in ESPN Magazine on October 4, 2010 (pgs. 66-67; article by Luke Cyphers). Ten Nike-sponsored college teams will wear the 'Pro Combat' game uniforms. TCU, Virginia Tech and Boise State opened their new seasons this fall with the new uniform design. On September 4, TCU debuted the 'With Ice in Their Veins' uniform. On September 6, Boise State displayed the 'Untamed.Unapologetic' unis against Virginia Tech's 'Black to the Future' jerseys.

The Pittsburgh Tribune-Review confirmed that the Pitt Panthers will wear the 'Total Combat' jerseys against West Virginia when they meet on November 26, at Heinz Field, for the 103rd 'Backyard Brawl' game. Pitt's uniforms will feature ties to the steel industry, while West Virginia's gear will pay respect to the deadly Uppoer Big Branch mine explosion which took several lives this past April.

Someone with a sense of humor decided to leak information that the NFL would soon be wearing new Nike-sponsored 'Total Combat' gear as well. Taking the original mock graphics made by an independent artist, not Nike, Adobe Photoshop came into play, and fashionistas around the globe started tweeting and chatting about the new looks. Depending on the style that the prankster made for a given team, fans were either pleased with the new looks or outright outraged.

The NFL has not signed off on any new uniform designs with Nike, and there has not been discussion on doing so.

The uniform 'designed' for the Pittsburgh Steelers took away all of the greatness of the team's history. With the yellow appearing more like yellow-green, sleeves of white with yellow, red and blue horizontal stripes, the uniforms were ugly. The Steelers would have to put input into any change of uniform, and they would not approve the fake design without fans burning them in effigy.

The real Nike 'Total Combat' jerseys (for the NCAA) are interesting, and have been a hit with fans, but are mainly a promotional tool to gain revenue for athletic departments when fans purchase the alternative design. NFL teams do not rely as heavily on team-related fan gear.

I want all black, no logos, no numbers, no names. Just all black. With extra thick black facemasks.
