Why did we still rely on ARE fair catching punts last night when we could have used a big return?

he's under strict orders. DO NOT RUN!!! catch the ball. that's it. to run would be risky and potentially lead to points or better field position. Ben is looking to prove himself and he would much rather go 90 yards than 80 or even 70. It's a good deal for El. If you add in his 4 catches this year outside of punts, it works out to about 40k per touch.

Yup, I think his explicit role as a kick returner is to be safe... not to bust one. In that role, fair catches are the S.O.P.

(As a receiver, his role is to make plays for us when things are rolling. When the chips are down though and we need someone to step up and make a play, his role is to falter.)
