hey all,

You guys really helped out finding a bar in Detroit even though they were all effing closed. That town terrifies me.

Anyway, I'll be in San Francisco for another game later this year. Any suggestions? I'll be staying near Union Square.

Just don't go to any bar where they offer to push your stool in.

I've never been to San Francisco, so I don't know any of this myself. But here is a link to a list of Steeler bars that the Post-Gazette put together (not sure how up-to-date it is though). I cut and pasted the addresses for those listed as being in San Francisco.

http://www.post-gazette.com/steelernation/steelerbars_list.asp

Giordano Brothers 303 Columbus Ave San Francisco, CA 94133-3907
P Nutt's Pad 1575 Broadway San Francisco, CA 94109-2548
Pittsburgh's Pub 4207 Judah San Francisco, CA 94122-1026
The Dubliner 3838 24th St San Francisco, CA 94114-3811
The Phoenix 811 Valencia St San Francisco, CA 94110-1736
Shanghai Kelly's 2064 Polk Street San Fransico, CA 94109-2520

Thanks much. I hope someone in SF helps me out too.

Are you staying in the city or somewhere else (East Bay, Peninsula, North Bay)?

You really shoulnd't need a Steelers bar unless you are in the East Bay and fear for your safety.

I'm staying right off of Union Sq. I just prefer to watch it with a bunch of rabid Steelers fans, ya know?

Oh right, you already said that.

If your priority is rabid Steeler fans, I would schelp it over to the East Bay. I know there are a lot of transplants from the burgh over there. And folks on the SF side tend to be a bit more low key about things such as team sports.

You could combine the bar list with http://tripplanner.transit.511.org/mtc/ ... anguage=en (http://tripplanner.transit.511.org/mtc/XSLT_TRIP_REQUEST2?language=en) to find one that is accessible via public transport.

If I hadn't just moved back across the country I'd meet up with you.

I'm always up for meeting Steelers fans, thanks for the info though. I think hassle is probably the biggest mitigating factor here. I'll be with my sister, her husband and my wife. So whatever gets to beer and Steelers' football the fastest.
