This rumor was floated within hours of the Moss cutting rumor. Smart move by them.

Randy Moss is a Titan
Posted by Mike Florio on November 3, 2010 4:22 PM ET
The man who has been a gigantic pain the the ass can now be a Titanic pain in the ass.

Jim Wyatt of the Tennessean first reported that the Titans have been awarded Randy Moss via waivers. A source close to Moss tells us that the player is expected to report to the team.

The move means that none of the 21 teams ahead of the Titans made a waivers claim. It remains to be seen whether any of the next 10 tried to get him.

And so Moss goes from a team that had Adrian Peterson to the team that has Chris Johnson.

The Titans are off in Week Nine. They play at Miami on November 14. Other teams on the schedule over the second half of the season include the Redskins, the Texans (twice), the Jaguars, the Colts (twice), and the Chiefs.

Also, for what its worth, Shawne Merriman is now a Buffalo Bill:

Sources: Bills claim Shawne Merriman
ESPN.com news services

The Buffalo Bills have claimed former San Diego Chargers linebacker Shawne Merriman on waivers, league sources told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter.

Merriman must report to the Bills within the next five days or he'll be placed on the Reserve/Left Squad list and would not be able to play the rest of the season, at which point his status would be determined by the next collective bargaining agreement. At the moment, Merriman plans to report to Buffalo, sources told Schefter. He is not, however, expected to play Sunday against the Chicago Bears.

The Miami Dolphins had also planned to place a waiver claim for Merriman.

Merriman was placed on the injured reserve list because of a calf injury and a "minor-injury designation" last month. The Chargers said when announcing the move that Merriman must be released once he's healthy.

Known as "Lights Out" because of his once-ferocious hits, Merriman had 39½ sacks in his first three seasons. He's had only four in the three seasons since then due to a variety of injuries.

He was suspended for four games in 2006 after testing positive for steroids. Even missing the four games, he had 17 sacks that year. Merriman blamed the positive test on a tainted supplement, which he never identified.

He also brought unwanted attention off the field. He was arrested just before the 2009 season after reality television star Tila Tequila accused him of battery and false imprisonment at his suburban San Diego home. No charges were filed, and Merriman and Tequila settled dueling lawsuits.

Merriman missed most of the 2008 season after undergoing reconstructive knee surgery. He had four sacks last year as he tried to regain his hard-hitting form. After sitting out most offseason workouts and part of training camp to protest his contract status, he was slowed by an Achilles injury and then a calf injury.

He had only five tackles and no sacks in limited action this year.

Information from The Associated Press was used in this report.

Tidbit:

In the '98 draft, Fisher and the Titans passed on Moss and selected Kevin Dyson, a WR from Utah.

That worked.

Moss would have scored against the Rams.

Dyson didn't.

Sports Center right now is saying the Titans were the only team to claim Moss, and that they owe him 3.38 mil for the rest of the season.

Merriman had claims from the Bills, Dolphins and 1 other team I didn't catch.

Tampa was that other team. I'm sure he's thrilled to be moving from San Diego to Buffalo just in time for their November and December weather instead of going to either of those Florida teams.

Good move by Tenn. Makes sense that no teams out of the playoffs would bother with him.
But, he's a 'tool' that they can use for 8 weeks or so. And if it doesn't work out, then they too can cut him. He's a player that could give them a bit more help.
Luckily for him, they people of Tennessee are much more sophisticated than those in Minnesota.

Totally disagree. Vince Young can't get the ball down the field. And he is one of the worst in regards to accuracy. Wait a few games and then let Randy be Randy.

Teams will still stack the box and take away the run. You can have a deep threat outside but if you have someone who couldn't hit water if he fell out of a boat at QB it doesn't change a thing.

I certainly agree with the part highlighted in red. :P
