He's holding the ball higher and tighter (to the body).

He'll get the ball out quicker, that's for sure, but that's only on the standard drop back pass. When Ben improvises, it won't matter where he holds the ball. I'm OK with that. Now, if he can get Leftwich to hold the ball higher and tighter for a quicker release, now we're talkin'. :)

that higher and tighter hold should equate to a quicker release and fewer lost balls. Thats good work by Ben.

He's wearing pink shoes. That means his feet will now glide over the grass like a fairie flies through the air and make his delivery smoother. :moon

Does anyone have a picture of Ben's drop in previous years?

I think many people assume his mechanics were poor based on his style of play. When Ben drops back and delivers the ball as soon as his back foot hits the ground whether it be a 3, 5 or 7 step drop his mechanics never seemed bad. I'm not saying he hasn't changed some things, but I don't believe his mechanics were bad either.

Remember when he was forced to remove the "PFJ" he wrote on his cleats during his rookie year? He should write "DTF" on his pink shoes this week. Just for fun. To see what happens. (Yes, I'm kidding). :P

im not saying the word "bad" either, Pappy. but we all knew that bens game wasnt complete. hes only 28 years old. he knew there were things he could work on to get better. this "fine tuning" thing that he did is gonna pay off. Peyton Manning works on at least one thing every offseason. whether its his own mechanics or his physical and emotional health or film study. thats what good QB's have to do be great. I hope this is a turning point for ben in that regard. His game preperation has never been head of the class. and as the QB of a team it has to be. this whole sharpening of the tools thing he did needs to become somewhat of a habit for him so he can take that final step to pure greatness. hes very close to playing on the level of the truly great players of all time. its gonna be exciting to see if everything he has went through has made him stronger or simply brought him back down to earth. heres to hoping its both.

I'm not saying this isn't a fair representation, but he is obviously scrambling on this pic, as opposed to his dropback. But going on memory, I seem to recall him holding the ball lower on dropback as well.
