Leavin', ON a jet plane ... :D :D

Thanks SN1 - look forward to seeing you there.

And Fordfixer, if my plane goes down, I'll text my lawyer before impact to adjust my will so that you get the tix. Promise! (PhillyEsq - is that good enough for official intent?!)

Here we go!

SN1,

I'm bringing the wife with me this weekend, but I doubt that we'll get there in time for the tailgate, since you guys are typically finishing up at 11:00 to head in to the stadium, while I usually arrive in town right around 11:00 a.m. Perhaps we'll see if we can leave late Saturday night after our friends' early Halloween party, drive halfway or so, and get to the Burgh earlier. We'll see.

Yeah baby. Stop by the tailgate or at least visit the rail during pregame.

Keep your eyes open for a Jiga. I maybe lurking. Somewhere.

Keep your eyes open for a Jiga. I maybe lurking. Somewhere.

Well, if the Jiga might show up, I just might have to be there!

Seriously, though, it appears that we may be able to head out earlier tonight than I originally thought, so it looks like I should be able to drive all the way out to Pittsburgh tonight instead of driving only half-way tonight and the other half in the morning. So that makes our likelihood of showing up at the SN1 tailgate even higher, since we can wake up in the 'Burgh and meet up with you folks somewhere in the 9:00 hour or so.

If we show up at that time, is there typically any parking left around the casino area where you camp out (you are still at the Reedsdale/Fontella intersection like last year, right?). Normally my father and I park at the $5-10 lots downtown and walk over, but my wife just had surgery on her toes recently, so it might be worth paying $25 (or whatever) to park on the North Side near you folks, so she won't have to walk as much. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

If we are able to make it, my wife wants to know if there is anything that you want us to bring. I'm sure that we'll be able to find a Giant Eagle or whatever between our hotel and downtown to pick up some snacks or drinks or whatever to contribute. Let me know if there is anything you guys might like. Thanks.

Sorry Ford Fixer, I made it in, two tix in hand!

We spent tonight wandering around the Heinz Field/PNC Park area. It is BEAUTIFUL! We had driven in through the Fort Pitt Tunnel just around sunset, and then we had dinner at the Jerome Bettis Grill 36. My buddies walked my son and me all around, the whole experience was magical.

Can't wait for tomorrow to come! SN1, we plan on leaving Shadyside around 9 AM, if you have a chance to read this before then let us know what to bring, otherwise we'll bring something or other from a Giant Eagle. Do they sell beer on Sunday in Pittsburgh?

Woooo!!

This was a day to remember! Trip of a lifetime ...

SN1 - the most awesome host at the tailgate - you are the man. It was great meeting you in person.

Jiga shows from Youngstown! DeLorean parked just around the corner I think.

And Ruthless and Babe Ruthless! took over the hosting from SN1 when we got to the stadium. He took SASF Jr. and me all around the stadium - the "arcade", where we saw Wolf do a radio show and got our pics taken, to the Great Hall.

You guys are completely awesome. SASF Jr. understands what Steeler Nation is now ... or should I say Planet Steelers!

(Oh, and the game was pretty darn good too!).

BTW SN1 - we spotted your big Gold 7 really easily - I bet you were on TV.

Pleasure was all mine. Great meeting you and ANYTIME you are in the Burgh for a game, stop by!

A great time was had by all (although I'm sure that SN1 was ticked off by the extra sets of bleachers in the South Plaza blocking access to his usual site). I guess that means for the next home game (the annual Planet tailgate) after this 3 game road trip, we will all be hanging out together behind the Steeler Nation sign on the rotunda instead of being split up between the rotunda and behind the goalposts.

My wife commandeered my binoculars during the 1st quarter for the sole purpose of locating SASF, SN1, and Jiga throughout the stadium (she found you all). She really enjoyed hanging out with everyone at Reedsdale and Fontella, and spending time with SASF and SASF Jr. at Gameday Live and the Great Hall. I'll have to post some pics (including the one of me, SASF, and Wolf) when I get home later. She preferred hanging out with everyone to the game itself (she headed down to the Sideline stores to shop for souvenirs in the early 4th quarter instead of staying out in the sun and watching the game). Perhaps in future seasons, I'll see if she wants to come to our annual big tailgate game instead of my Dad...we'll see.

SASF - Nice meeting you and your son. Sorry if I offended him by calling him SASF Jr. :D

SN1 - Didn't think about it at the tailgate, but when I saw the #7 waving around inside the
stadium I really wanted to get a picture with it. :( Maybe next game if you bring it.

Ruthless - What's wrong with you wife? Binoculars? I always feel like someone is watching me.

I don't think he was offended Jiga, no problem. I think he was just blown away Steeler Nation/Planet Steelers. SN1 is his new hero, as far as I can tell!

Nice. I just wish you guys could've enjoyed the game down in "The Nation." There's nothing like watching the game from 20 feet away from the field. I didn't like standing up on the rotunda, but it was kind of fun because I got to scream at the protesters. I made some phone calls and I think the blockage in the end zone was a one game thing. Again, thanks for coming by the tailgate!
