In an effort to sure up the quarterback woes, the Pittsburgh Steelers will work out Levi Brown this week.

Brown, formerly of the Buffalo Bills, also worked out for the New York Giants last week.

With Ben Roethlisberger still having two games left on his suspension and Dennis Dixon suffering a sprained left knee in Sundayís win over the Tennessee Titans, the Steelers need depth at quarterback in a hurry.

Byron Leftwich is expected to re-sign with the team this week and start next Sunday on the road against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Charlie Batch will likely remain the No. 2, but Brown could serve as the teamís emergency quarterback if his workout goes well this week.

Adam Caplan of FOXSports.com was first to report the Brown workout.

The former Troy QB? No thanks. Was not impressed with him when they played Central Mich. He wilted under the pressure.

Whatever happened to QB Mike Reilly? I seem to recall Ron Jaworski saying before the 2009 draft that he could be the next Tom Brady. I know the Steelers signed him last year then cut him but I can't imagine him being any better or worse than Levi Brown.

Last I heard the Packers picked him up.

Mike Reilly is currently on the practice squad of the BC Lions in Canada.

I was really a good backup qb in High School, and I only have thrown one interception in 4 years of flag football in college. Sign me up, I am smart and since I'm married I will keep my oscarmeir hot dog to only my wifey

I say we give Jevan Snead a shot... It's not my belief that young kids like him just "lose it".

This isn't a starter... or even a backup... why not?

Jonathan Crompton is available too.

I'm not a scout or anything, so who knows

Those guys both sound better to me. But, frankly, if Lefty is healthy, we don't need another QB for the active roster.

You guys are missing the obvious. We have a chance to get an overall #1 pick ... something we have always dreamed of. C'mon, say it with me now

Jamarcus 'Purple Drank' Russell :Boobs

You know you want him. Arians and Russell together would make us an offensive juggernaut. :tt2 :tt2

Snead's best year in college was when he was throwing to Mike Wallace. Perhaps 60 Minute Mike can vouch for his Ole Miss QB.

Imagine the grizzly bear fight if Russell was caught foraging in Big Snackís cooler.

Well I guess that's that.

The Steelers have worked out two young quarterbacks but do not plan to sign one, either to their 53-man roster or their practice squad this week, even though Dennis Dixon will have surgery on his injured left knee Wednesday.

Former WVU quarterback Jarrett Brown is here today, and they also worked out Levi Brown, most recently with the Buffalo Bills.

Mike Tomlin said they have no plans to sign a third quarterback, and another source said they will not sign one to the practice squad either...

Levi Brown?

I would rather have Charlie Brown or Leroy Brown

Isn't Levi Brown the same dude who knocked-up Sarah Palin's daughter?
