I dont know how many of you go on pg.com every day, but the beat writers for the pirates and penguins are always doing q and a's every day where they respond to a few questions from fans. They also do those chat things where they answer questions from fans for an extended period of time. The penguins beat writer named dave molinari does this even in the hockey offseason....Well then there is douchette, it is football season and has been for a few weeks, and he still has the last question he answered from January up and does not do chats, he gets on my nerves...

He did weekly chats all through training camp and the pre-season and i'm pretty sure he still does them on a weekly basis all season long.

Starting with this regular season, you have to pay to access his chats. Big waste of $$ if you ask me.

although i read Ed's chats when they are free and actually enjoy them, i would pay to access his chats at about the same time that:

Well, Dave Molinari seems to truly care about the sport that he covers (he was honored by the Hockey Hall of Fame last year for his contributions to the sport). On the other hand, Bouchette seems almost annoyed by the drudgery of covering the NFL for some unknown reason. He's not an awful writer like John Harris or a "look at me" pot stirrer like Mark Madden. He is an accomplished writer...I'll give him that...but he has not seemed to take to all of the new aspects of modern media like online chats, blogs, podcasts, etc. It seems like he has an attitude that all this new-fangled media is somehow below him. That's why people call him Douchette, because that is the way he acts toward us lowly masses in any kind of interactive media endeavor.

Ed's just coasting now. He used to be a good hard nosed writer/reporter but since he got busted making up that story about Bettis being released he tries to be a smart alec instead of a good source of NFL info.

Ruthless, you hit the nail on the head, that was basically what I get out of him too, he is a good writer but he seems to look down on us (the fans), he seems to rip into fans if they ask him a question that has an easy answer, and I really wish he could be thrown off his high horse and out of a job, because I am not the type to email questions to those writers, but it is nice that molinari respects pengun fans and has chats and Q and A sessions with fans in the offseason of hockey, same with the Pirates writer...
In short, I just dont like people who think they are better than everyone else, he needs to understand he is a writer for the best franchise in sports, and the keyword to that is WRITER, not owner, player or manager of any kind. but a friggin writer, so put that in your pen and write it you smartalec

more people might be willing to pay for Ed's chats if he wasn't so smug with his replies.
