Cam across this nice breakdown of his work http://www.postgameheroes.com/?p=10006

What an upgrade. Its nice to see this when comparing the other two centers we had the past couple of years.

Sean Mahan = worst Steelers center ever! :Hater

Did Mahan or Hartwig ever execute a combination block successfully? Pouncey had 4 in that clip.

They both executed many combinations. A combination of them getting pushed back and then falling on their butt.

Mahan and Hartwig excelled at the turnstile and matador blocks...

On one play he Pouncey looked to be beat but managed to keep a hand on his man even though he got past him. because of that Dixon was able to get his pass off.

That is outstanding effort, too many guys give up or fake like they stepped on their own shoe string when someone gets past them.

I don't understand those stats and stuff, but has anyone noticed that there are fewer and fewer plays where the RB is nailed [stuffed] before he get's going. It seems each game this improves. This can't hurt. Can it?

I'm glad Tomlin was flexible enough to abandon his original plan of starting Pouncey off at RG. Pouncey immediately upgrades our OL and allows us to focus on upgrading other areas.

The Steelers need to change some things. Here are 5 run plays and other than the Mendenhall TD run only 1 of them was successful. The one that was successful was when they ran inside of Pouncey’s block. I think this team can run inside the guards now. All 5 of these runs Pouncey blew his defender completely out. But as mentioned only once did they actually run inside that block.

Very impressive football player. Steelers hit the jackpot.

I am sure there is a reason but couldnt he play nose tackle in emergency backup situations at the goal line? Why wouldnt this work? Long arms, strength enough to penetrate the line, etc.

I saw an obvious improvement in the run blocking. For one thing the center wasn't getting pushed back into the backfield which often prevented the guards from pulling. I was one of those who doubted Pouncey's pedigree. Kudos to those who knew better!!

Total Punishment on his body would go up. Id imagine the Steelers would want to conserve their investment.

Just wait and see what Ben can accomplish with this new found protection.

Pouncey also did a nice job of helping Tim Tebow become the most overhyped QB in college football history.

That is why Pouncey is so good! He had the hands of a demi-god in his crotch on a regular basis.
