The Steelers added depth to their offensive line today when they signed six-year veteran Adrian Jones. Financial terms of the one-year contract were not disclosed.

Jones (6-4, 330) was originally drafted by the New York Jets in the fourth round (132nd overall) in the 2004 NFL Draft out of Kansas. Jones started 44 games for the Jets from 2004-07 before being waived late in the 2007 season. He was then signed by the Kansas City Chiefs and started 10 games in 2008 at guard. Jones was signed by the Houston Texans during the 2009 offseason but was released.

To make room for Jones on the roster, the Steelers placed veteran offensive tackle Willie Colon on their Reserve/Injured List. Colon suffered an Achilles injury last month and had season-ending surgery.

Interesting????

I would still prefer we go after Ciron Black or Flozell Adams. Doubt this guy is the solution at RT.

Yeah, its nice to see the "44 Starts" stat. But I don't expect much from the guy that hasn't been able to lock down a roster spot for a year or so.

I hope he was signed for depth and not the replacement for Colon. I'd prefer Adams at OT.

This is a fill in.

Maybe better than Scott or Essex- but he's been released 3 times...

Now, I understand, NYJ & KC have good offensive lines- but Houston??

Come on... this has got to be a "depth" signing.

Ovi-

I'm not a fan of Flozzell - but I'm sure he'd be better (and more expensive) than Jones.

In respect to Ciron Black, Ive brought his name up previously, and still can not find any sort of explanation as to why he is not on any roster. Not even as an UDFA. Very perplexing.

This guy Jones is just a back up filler. the Steelers certainly dont expect this guy to start. that job at RT belongs to either Essex, Foster or FA J. Scott. has Gandy been signed by a team yet?

I mean the Steelers really know how to shake and bake during the offseason.

*I know there is a Santonio joke in there for Ruthless somewhere ;) *

I hope this FO knows what it is doing. This is one set back that have time to prepare for. I truely hope they are making calls about maybe spending a draft pick on an OT. I will trust in them...I guess.

Flo is done. He is not the answer even for 1 year.

I would still give up a 1st and 3rd for Marcus McNeill.

Perhaps if you said wake and bake, then maybe.

But shake and bake is the sole propriety of NASCAR, for the use of Ricky Bobby and Cal Naughton Jr. only.

That. Just. Happened.

How does a vet of six years with 44 starts and the traded to KC with ten starts end up on the Texans practice squad? First of all. I didn't think you could do that via league rules. There are polices and limitations as far as starts and the guy is a six year vet?! Secondly, the Texans practice squad???? Thirdly, the Texans practice squad???? :wft

Adrian Jones is the Nephew of DE Aaron Jones....

Aaron Jones, I believe, was drafted #1 in 1988 or 89, out of Eastern Kentucky...
and we all know what a great career he had!!!

Now, if Adrian Jones can be half the stud that his uncle was, than we really
got a steal...
