The Buffalo Sabres bolstered their blue line Thursday by agreeing to a three-year contract with Jordan Leopold, who scored a career-high 11 goals last season for the Panthers and Penguins.

After free agents Toni Lydman and Henrik Tallinder bolted for the Ducks and Devils, respectively, the Sabres added a seven-year veteran in Leopold who should help at both ends of the ice.

In 436 NHL games with the Flames, Avalanche, Panthers and Penguins, Leopold has recorded 40 goals and 135 points. He had 11 goals and 26 points in 81 regular-season games in 2009-10 and was scoreless in eight playoff games for the Penguins.

A second-round selection by the Ducks in the 1999 Entry Draft, Leopold has moved around in recent seasons. He was dealt by the Avalanche to the Flames at the 2009 trade deadline, then moved again at the draft to the Panthers in the Jay Bouwmeester trade. Leopold was dealt again to the Penguins at last season's trade deadline and registered 4 goals and 8 points in 20 regular-season games with Pittsburgh.
