View Full Version : The Official SuperBowl or Bust - Redemption Edition

It's that time of year again. We're bored out of our minds. Going to the beach. Having bar-b-q's. Sunbathing. Swimming. Enjoying summer cocktails. Mowing the lawn. Trimming the hedges.
There's lot of great ways to waste time.
But nothing is better than starting a SuperBowl or Bust Thread.
The thread that kicked off our march to #5 when no one believed.
The thread that preceded #6.
And the thread that will lead us on our journey to #7.
The time has come where Flippy has a vision.
A vision of redemption.
Or deja vu.

Whatever it is, it's definitely #7.
As it was meant to be.
Its the year of 777.
#7 will bring us #7 in his 7th year.

I love me some Steeler's numerology.
After all the turmoil and BS we went through this off-season i think this fanbase deserves a SB win now more than ever. And i know quite a few rival fans i can't wait to give a collective "FU WE ARE THE CHAMPS, IN YOUR FACE!!". lol
One pats fan in particular. Every time i post something pro-Steelers or pro-Ben she can't contain herself. She is convinced Ben is a rapist and i'm a blind homer idiot for even thinking he's anything more than a man who hung with wrong crowd and made mistakes.
I can't freakin' wait to let her have it. lol
BTW how awesome would it be to win the SB in cowgirls stadium AND watch commish GODell have to give Ben the MVP award ???
:Cheers

I think that Steeler Nation would have forgiven Ben if that were the case!
Im telling you keeping a franchise super bowl winning QB on ice for 4 games might turn out to our advantage. Ben's going to be twitching for 4 weeks. It'll be like Christmas for Big Ben when he steps out on that field. And seriously can you name a better team for Ben to annihilate in his return then the Browns?

I'm sure he'd claim credit for Ben's "miraculous turnaround" if that happened. He'd use it as an example to illustrate why his punishment and influence is unimpeachable.
I have a great feeling about this season - we have something to prove, and prove it we will! :tt2 :tt2 :tt2

How bout a little Cowboy vs Steelers SuperBowl matchup and we beat them in Heinz Field South.
I have a pretty good feeling about this season as well. I think we strengthened up the areas that needed it. Got a lot of promising young players I think. And brought back some familiar vets. Probably just need for Lefty to get us through those first games and we'll be clicking.
Ben will be winning people over again before long.

The problem I see with this analogy is there is no father in this story. No one welcomed Ben back without question. Everyone is against him, just like the brother in the story.
The Steelers didn't stand behind Ben immediately. Pittsburgh didn't. The fans didn't. The league didn't. Ben stood alone.
And that immediate acceptance was the biggest part of the story of the prodigal son.
I see Ben winning as Ben's alone and proving people wrong.

Yes but that was part of the journey Ben had to go on and learn to stand alone. In the story he had to take a job as a swine farmer. Ben being thrown under the bus by everyone is his equivalent of taking a job as a swine farmer.

HawaiinSteeler, you need to find us some hot Steelers fans for this thread.
How else will we win #7?
And if you know any female Steelers fans at the games, insist that they dress more like soccer fans!!!!!
And I don't care if it's too cold.

Mike Tomlin is redeeming himself by bringing in Sushi.
He's redeeming himself by benching Essex.
Ben is redeeming his image.
Special teams is playing much better.
And we're struggling through games and squeaking by with just enough wins.
We're resiliant.
We're injured and carrying on with our heads high and high expectations.
Our backups are getting experience and are becoming battle tested.
And we're holding our backups' backups to the same level of expectation of our starters.
And we're doing this all with the league against us.
It's us against the world.
And it sometimes hasn't been pretty.
But redemption never is.
It will take guts, talent, and smarts to bring home #7.
And while we may not have put it all together yet.
Now is the time to do it.
There is no tomorrow.
Just the now.
Let's live it.
Let's do what we are capable each and every moment.
No more excuse.
We are building a champion.
Let's do this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I like to picture Jesus as a figure skater. He wears like a white outfit, and He does interpretive ice dances of my life's journey.
I like to think of Jesus as a mischievous badger.
I like to picture Jesus in a tuxedo T-Shirt because it says I want to be formal, but I'm here to party.
I like to think of Jesus like with giant eagles wings, and singin' lead vocals for Lynyrd Skynyrd with like an angel band and I'm in the front row and I'm hammered drunk!
I like to think of Jesus like a muscular trapeze artist.
I like to think of Jesus like a dirty old bum. He's comin' up to me, and I'm 'bout to sock him one, cause, you know, he's a dirty old bum, but then I say, "Wait a minute, there's something... I don't know, special about this guy."
I like to think of Jesus like a shapeshifter, or changeling, like that guy--You ever see that TV show Manimal?

1 Down. 2 to go.
Here's some shout outs:
1. Defense - 126 yards, 28 in the 2nd half and we did it without Troy. How bout that?
2. Ryan Clark - FF and Int that swung the momentum
3. Casey - Watch the beast on the Flacco fumble. He moved the C, G, and Flacco enabling us to pick up that ball easily.
4. Keisel and Hood - Simply beasts up front. Smitty who?
5. James Harrison - He was possessed in the 2nd half. I started feeling bad for Michael Oher. He was pretty much helpless.
6. Sanders and Brown - Leading the team in receiving. Coming up big in their first playoff game. These guys weren't fazed at all.
7. Ben and BA - scoring TDs in the redzone. That was brand new for us.
8. Sushi - Hell of a tackle on the opening kickoff. F Jeff Reed who woulda never done that.
9. Hines - 2 of the biggest catches of his season. Getting Heath wide open for his TD. And getting inside Reed's head from the start of the game making him a non factor.
10. Selflessness - This is a team. From Flozell running out on the field after all our tackles were hurt to Antonio Brown being asked about his big catch and responding "How bout that Defense?". It doesn't matter that we're running the JV OLIne. Or that Smitty's down. Or that Troy is having 0 impact. We're playing together with a single purpose. And like Tomlin says, no one is blinking.
Bring on the Pats or the Jets!!!!!!!!
SteelerNation is ready!!!!
Next stop - AFCC!!!
On the road to 7.
Let's go!!!!!!!

Green Bay Packers.....blah, blah, blah.
Pittsburgh Steelers......crickets.
It's us against the world. Cause everyone else is jealous.
Let them talk. Let us perform.
Expect a blowout.
Complete domination.
We're loaded.
On offense.
On defense.
And special teams.
GB knows it and will fold under pressure.
Aaron Rodgers has already admitted he's afraid to get the ball first.
They are afraid.
Very afraid.

Bust!!!!!
We don't play for moral victories, just wins. Mike T gets this thread. And he takes it to heart. And I'm thankful he'll be around and keeping us focused on the prize.
Sometimes you win.
Sometimes you lose.
Thank you Steelers for another great season.
You gave me the maximum number of weeks of football.
And I enjoyed em all.
The ups.
The downs.
What a ride.
Thank you to every last person in the Steelers organization.
Redemption doesn't always come easy.
And when it does, sometimes it's value can be lost.
Redemption is still available to be had.
And I hope the Steelers step up and take advantage of the opportunity in front of us.
Onward!!!!!!!
