PITTSBURGH -- Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger (suspension) could not practice with the team during the start of mandatory minicamp. But the defense received a boost Friday with the return of Troy Polamalu.

The dynamic safety was back on the practice field with the first-team defense at the start of the team's mandatory minicamp. Polamalu missed 11 games last season with a left knee injury.

"We had a couple of OTA practices last week and it feels good," Polamalu said of his knee. "It's feeling better with time, thank god."

I thought he would need surgery on the knee. It is good to know he is back and ready to go.

He needs to stay healthy for the SB run.

If TP and AS stay healthy, we'll be in the SuperBowl.

Yeah, that was my reaction. I don't want to read too much into his statement, but the way he put it, sounds as though maybe it hasn't fully healed.

Troy would have capitalized "God".
