4 in the top 100...

1 pick for every 32 ...
2 for every 64 ...

3 in the first 96.

So does that mean we had an "above average" draft, nabbing an extra (i.e., 4th) pick in the top 100?

Where's calculus man when you need him?

The latest ranked player is 84 , 79 and 78 on various sites. So can we say 4 out of the top 84... :@)

I guess that's good. Getting good value in round 6.

I was only presenting the other side of the coin in this one. I like the Pouncey pick, he's my favorite. I like getting players that can be inserted early on and provided they perform up to expectations be there for 10-12 years. Sepulveda was another one, many are bellyaching about trading up for a punter. Provided he continues to perform as he has, he'll be a Steeler for a long time and that's never bad.

I like the Pouncey pick and have nothing against the other players other than the positions they play for the most part.

I'm over it, they're Steelers, this is who they will go into the season with and there isn't anything I can do about it except cheer for the ones that make the team.

10 draft picks, 6 UDFAs, plus Mcfadden who we can count as a draft pick more or less. How many can actually make the team? Pouncey, Mcfadden and Worilds are almost guaranteed spots on the roster.

Sanders - is almost a lock as well (El, Battle or Sweed may get cut before him)

Gibson, Dwyer, Black, Butler, Scott, Sylvester, Worthington and Brown will battle for spots. They all can't make it and there's something to like about all of them.

I simply believe that the Steelers left a lot of help, value and need fulfillment on the table in this draft. We'll see how it works out in 2013. If it works out similarly to the 2007 draft it will be an above average draft, IMO; there are 4 starters from the 2007 draft class playing right now, Woodley, Timmons, Sepulveda and Gay. Of course, Gay will become a nickel or dime back or cut.

there is no way dweyer doesnt make the team unless he shows up to TC fat as hell. a lot of mock drafts had him going as early as the second round. i think he is my favorite pick because we finally have a big RB which we haven't had since bettis

So we got only 1 guy in the top 77. Maybe that's not so good, unless you don't care about this subjective ranking. Which I don't.

But there were a few teams with 4 picks in the top 100.
STL
SEA
OAK
CLE
and so on.
Carolina had 5 in the top 100. Really amounts to nothing at this point.

Not that it matters much, Pro Football's draft magazine had these players ranked:

Pouncey #1
Worilds Top 10 DE (projected to 3-4 OLB)
Gibson Top 10 OLB (maybe #7)
Sanders #34 WR
Dwyer #2 RB
UDFA AJ Trump Top 30 C

That's all I remembered.

Let's wait 3 years then we can evaluate this draft class.

For what it's worth...

the original site mentioned in this thread has Raiders OT Bruce Campbell listed NINTH. No way.

And they have Mays over Earl Thomas.
And Golden Tate over Demariyus Thomas.
And Dominique Franks over Patrick Robinson.

I don't buy any one of those arguments, and those are just the ones I saw at a quick glance.

They are clearly over-valuing 40 times, shuttle times, and how the player looks in shorts. We all know that isn't what makes a player. While having 4 of their top 100 is nice, I wouldn't put much stock in these ratings at all.

Uh. papillon... maybe you haven't heard, but the world ends in 2012. Ain't no 2013. So we need these guys to develop much faster than you're shooting for.
