Final from Oviedo:

Rd 1: Mike Iupati, G, 6’5”, 330lbs. Idaho.
Notes: Plays Guard who plays early but becomes eventual OT. Has future All Pro potential. This immediately improves the run game.

Rd 2: Ben Tate, RB, 5’11”, 220lbs, Auburn
Notes: Our RB depth is frightenly thin. Mendy gets hurt and we are done. Tate is perfect #2 who can run and catch.

Rd 3: Torrell Troup, NT, 6’3” 320lbs, Central Florida
Notes: High character, high motor player in the Chris Hoke mold. IMO will prove over time to be the best NT in this draft.

Rd 4: Amari Spievey, CB, 5’11”, 195 lbs.Iowa
Notes: Adds depth to a position that needs it. Another young guy to push for playing time.

Rd 5a: Jamar Cheney, LB, 6’1” 242lbs., Miss State
Notes: Yound ILB depth. Has time to learn and develop behind farrior and Foote.

Rd 5b: Kam Chancellor, S, 6’3” 230lbs, Va Tech
Notes: Insurance policy at Safety especially at SS for Troy. Has the size to play up near the line as a SS in the LeBeau defense.

Rd 5c: Joe Webb, WR, 6’3”, 223lbs, UAB
Notes: May be gone by this time but great athlete converting to WR. Hines, ARE and Battle can show him how.

Rd 6: Mike Kafka, QB, 6’3” 225lbs, Northwestern
Notes: Batch won’t last forever (probably not even one game) and who knows about Ben

Rd 7a: AJ Edds, LB, 6’4” 246lbs, Iowa
Notes: Depth for OLB. Good outside pass rusher.

Rd 7b: Sean Lissemore, DT, 6’3” 297lbs, W&M
Notes: Depth, developmental player adding more youth to the DL.

OK guys. Let's get everyone's final mock in this thread. And before the draft, I'll tally up the picks and compile the PlanetSteelers consensus here:

Draft day trade with the New York Jets that sends our 1.18 and 5.20 pick to New York for their 1.29 and 2.29

R1: 1.29 - Taylor Mays (SS)
R2: 2.20 - Sean Lee (ILB)
R2: 2.29 - Vladimir Ducasse (OG/OT)
R3: 3.18 - Torrell Troup (NT)
R4: 4.18 - Kam Chancellor (FS)
R5: 5.24 - Lagarrette Blount (RB)
R5: 5.33 - C.J. Wilson (DE)
R5: 5.35 - Perry Riley (OLB)
R6: 6.19 - Drew Davis (OT, big time program at Alabama)
R7: 7.35 - Garrette Lindhom (K - Logan is gone, this guy handles KOs until Reed is gone)

*** R7: 7.18 - Drew Davis (OT, big time program at Alabama) Assuming this is the pick we shipped to Tampa

Are you smarter than the board or is the board smarter than you? Let's prove once and for all who the real draft guru is on this board. Is someone smarter than the rest of us?

Or are we collectively better than any one individual?

Let's see how we stack up against the Steelers' brass!!!!!!

I'm counting on Burnett and Lewis to develop, no CBs for me. I'm also sure that Mays and Lee will be gone when we pick in those rounds, but I don't get paid to do this. :P

I never have, still don't, and probably never will have the guts to do a complete mock draft.

Hence:

These are all truly well thought out mock drafts that merit praise and compliments!

I bet if you gave it a try, you'd have some beginners luck and nail some picks. Like Daniel-san catching a fly with chopsticks.

We need some more mocks!!!!!

Any thoughts on how to get consensus in the rounds where there's no clear draftee? I may have to put names in a hat and pick them. Some of the picks are starting to shape up, but some of the rounds look really random and we've all pretty much picked differently so far.

Instead of trying to determine rounds, why don't you just determine the concensus on WHO we draft and What position they play. Would be much easier.

4 points if you get player & round correct.

2 points if you get player OR round correct, but not both.

KISS.

Since I don't have the stones to do my own, I proxy rounds 1-4 to chadman, rounds 5 to RB, and rounds 6-7 to Flip.

I've updated the 1st post with our collective consensus.

Collectively we took 2 safeties, 2 OLBs, 2 NTs, and we predominantly seem to want to upgrade/retool the defensive side of the ball.

There were some ties in rounds 5d., 6, and 7.

For rounds 5 and 7 I counted all the picks in those rounds and chose the player that came up the most times whether in slot a, b, c, or d.

Even if the draft went the collective way we picked, I'd be ok with it and think we'd actually upgrade the team. Obviously all these players wouldn't be able to make the team, but it still looks pretty good overall.

What do you guys think?

Here's what you came up with:

1. Earl Thomas - DB - Texas
2. Sean Lee - ILB - Penn State
3. Torrell Troup - NT - Central Florida
4. Zane Beadles - OT/OG - Utah
5a. Clifton Geathers - DE - South Carolina
5b. Joe Webb - WR - UAB
5c. Kam Chancellor - S - Va Tech
5d. Nolan Carroll - DB - Maryland / Deji Karim - RB - Southern Illinois
6. Ekom Udofia, NT, Stanford / Brandon Carter - G - Texas Tech
7.Adrian Tracy, OLB, William & Mary / Andrew Tyshovnytsky - T - Fordham

Regarding 5d: We did not pick a RB in our first 7 pick and picked a DB with our first pick, so I'd give Karim the advantage there.

Regarding 6: We already took a NT (Troup) and a guard (Beadles). Perhaps we should take both of the guys you have listed as possibilities at 7 at 6 & 7 instead, since we do have an OLB (Sean Lee should be listed as an ILB) or an OT.

That would give us:

1. Earl Thomas - DB - Texas
2. Sean Lee - OLB - Penn State
3. Torrell Troup - NT - Central Florida
4. Zane Beadles - OT/OG - Utah
5a. Clifton Geathers - DE - South Carolina

Only 1 Pouncey pick out of this group. At least one of us is brilliant so far.

Wonder if we can nail rounds 2 and 3 today?

Here's our collective picks:

2. Sean Lee - ILB - Penn State
3. Torrell Troup - NT - Central Florida

Since we took Pouncey, I think I'd rather get a DB in round 2 or 3.

Lee and Owusu-Ansah instead of Troup would make me happy.

Nice calls so far guys.

Wonder how we'll do today? Can we nail any of these round 4-7 picks????? I hope so.
