Wilson or Thomas. I want a DB first and foremost- unless a crazy top-5 type talent should fall or something.

Historically, it seems pretty rare that there is an O-line guy drafted late that actually sticks in the league. So I hope they go O-line in round 1 and look for DB value late in the draft. Pick up a LB somewhere in the middle (rounds 3 or 4) and otherwise go for the BA (Best Athlete not Bruce Arians or Bay Area).

Maurkice Pouncey!

I would love to have Earl Thomas or Kyle Wilson but to me the Steelers need to solidify the interior of the OL and Pouncey would seriously be a step in the right direction! The offensive line would look alot better across the board with a good pivot. Plus, there seems to be a ton of depth in the draft between rounds 2-4 for DB, LB, and WR!

thomas, pouncey, wilson.

wonder how far up in round 2 those two fifths will get us? i have a feeling those early round 2 picks will be costly with the extra time between rounds.

thanks alot fidel, this new format sucks.

Those two fifths will not move us up enough in round two to make much of a difference. There are some guys here that have the points system down pat, but to move to the top of round two, I think we would have to give up our own second and third round picks.

It's funny because last year I was in the "Go Big, Go Ugly, Go Early" camp. This year I'm not really interested in any OL in an early round. Our current line isn't great, but they'll do the job.

My concern is Defense, which I've heard wins championships!

I'm still holding out hope for Thomas. We definitely need to add a DYNAMIC PLAYMAKER to our secondary. If the Steelers are dead set on picking Iupati or Pouncey, I hope we trade down and take our chances.

Let's give our opposition more than Troy to consider.

if those are the guys available, something tells me it wont be thomas but either wilson or pouncey.

...clark being signed and being the starter for the next 2 years

... they usually dont spend or draft high at the FS position. look at the guys they've brought in. relatively low level signings (alexander, clark) and hope.

the type of player they seem to want in that position (with troy roaming around) is a 'safe' one.

OTOH, if they think of him as a CB... then never mind the above

if Earl Thomas is still available at #18, he will be a Steeler and be given every opportunity to beat out Willie Gay at the CB position opposite Ike Taylor.

and in the worst case scenario he would at least be the nickel and dime back.. and even in teh scenario I don't see Gay as the starter....

If Brandon Graham and Earl Thomas are available when we pick what would it take to move to 1.19 and get both? Do we have a player we could package with a pick or cash to move into that spot rather than give up the rest of the draft.?

Can't realistically happen. If we get one of the two then it is a great pick. Both are a "win" pick. Personally, I'd take Graham.

Yes and yes! From your keyboard to God's ears.

Except God doesn't draft for the Steelers. If that were the case, we wouldn't have drafted Ricardo Colclough, Alonzo Jackson, Troy Edwards, Scott Shields, Jamain Stephens, etc.

From your keyboard to Colbert's ears (and actually, I suppose it should be from your keyboard to Colbert's eyes. If it were only his ears that were paying attention to what you were typing, it would just sound like a bunch of indistinguishable clicking noises).

GM I AM!

In the above scenario...I listen to no offers and...
"With the 18th pick in the 2010 NFL Draft...The Pittsburgh Steelers select...Earl Thomas, DB Texas."
He was my choice after Spoon but I believe he will be gone.

Assume Thomas is gone in place of Willaims, Pierre-Paul, Davis, or Bryant.
"With the 18th pick in the 2010 NFL Draft...The Pittsburgh Steelers select...Mike Iupati, OL Idaho."

Assume Thomas & Iupati are gone in place of Willaims, Pierre-Paul, Davis, or Bryant. I would try to trade back and target Pouncey. If I can't trade back...
"With the 18th pick in the 2010 NFL Draft...The Pittsburgh Steelers select...Brandon Graham, OLB Michigan."

Assume the Steelers did trade back. The original 17 picks and my three are off the board. I would pick in this order:
Pouncey
Wilson
Odrick
McCourtey
Kindle
Hughes
Mays
