Text of the letter from the attorney for Ben Roethlisberger's accuser to District Attorney Fred Bright:

March 17, 2010

Re: Benjamin Roethlisberger

Dear Mr. Bright:

As you know, we represent the complainant in the referenced matter, and it is about that that I write you at this time.

After a great deal of deliberation, our client has instructed us to advise you that she does not want to prosecute this matter further. While I am well aware that the prosecution decision rests with the district attorney, and not a complaining party, it is appropriate that you be aware of this fact as you make your decision.

What is obvious in looking forward is that a criminal trial would be a very intrusive personal experience for complainant in this situation, given the extraordinary media attention that would be inevitable. The media coverage to date, and the efforts of the media to access our client, have been unnerving, to say the least.

In short, no matter what the outcome of a criminal trial, our client has had sound professional advice since this incident that participating in a public trial would not at all be in her best interest as she goes forward with her life. That is a decision that we, as her attorneys, fully support. As should be clear from what I have said here, this decision does not reflect any recanting of our client's complaint, but simply a realistic, personal decision as to what is in her best interests, and what it would be like to go through a trial with the expected media attention.

Please let us know if you need any further information.

With best regards, I remain very truly yours

Well the hidden message could be anywhere from that which the letter stated to she made the whole thing up and is saving face by claiming its the scary media frenzy that caused her to drop the charge.
Also, just because she doesn't want to press charges doesn't mean that the DA can't AND shouldn't press charges if there is evidence.
Since there is NO evidence the DA decided to drop the case. If there was evidence outside of he said/she said, he would have carried the case forward.

I have no way of knowing what happened. Is she a drunken gold digger like the crazy Vegas chick or did something happen.

In my mind, I imagine he insulted her more than assaulted her and being drunk she wanted to put stress on him.
...it worked against him and all of us.

But by asking to drop the charge, she is only saying she isn't cooperating. If there was evidence of wrong doing, the DA would pursue it regardless of her wishes.

When my brother practiced law he often ended his e-mails and letters this way. I am thinking that it may be a typical lawyer talk thing.

That last line soundd super Willie ghay..

I hope it's a "kiss the ring" respect used for DA's and judges. If not, this guy bites pillows.

I don't sign my letters this way, but I see a lot of lawyers that do. Not exactly sure why, except that a lot of people in my profession are long-winded blowhards.

You might be the first lawyer I could get along with.
