Ok, First off, FWP doesn't want to play for the Steelers? Fine, good bye.

Santonio sued for Assault and Battery? What the hell is going on with this team lately? Whose next?

Hard to blame FWP for not wanting to be part of the new Bengals.

Exactly, huge black eye on the organization... Well hopefully if Ben and Holmes both do time they can work out together.

He is guilty of poor judgement and is probably guilty. I mean come on it's Santonio Holmes. I say we should just cut him now. No need for any evidence or charges. There is no way this could be a cash grab like Ben's case clearly is.

The FWP news isn't suprizing. I've been saying all along that NFL players have big egos and that it would be difficult for us to bring him back. I think he'll take a low short-term offer somewhere hoping to prove that he can still play. He's been a stand up guy and I wish him luck (except when he's on the opposite sideline).

As for Holmes...we don't need any more of this crap. Let's go Limas!

I guess WR is back in the mix at #18. Hines will be retiring and you have to wonder if the organization is really going to want to retain the services of Mr. Holmes given his predisposition towards burning vegetation and other issues.

I'm just curious...why are so many fans willing to cut or trade Holmes? While we had a select few willing to do so with Ben the greatest majority want to keep Ben. Is it a position issue? Is it a talent issue? I'm just trying to pin this down.

I think you are correct but with the talent that should be available at 18 I don't see it happening. Dez White could be more of a problem than Holmes. Tate while good isn't 18 worthy. It really depends on how the Steelers see this. If they have had enough...and will trade or cut Holmes then I see us grabbing a talent in rounds 2-4...little better value in those rounds.

But, let me say for the record. Unless the Steelers don't want to be competitive next season they must keep Holmes. Ward is on his last leg. I'm not sure he makes it through next season. You want Wallace as your #1 and ARE as your #2? Wow that would be a nightmare.

IF Ben is guilty, I want him gone. I don't care about what it does to the team. Assaulting a drunk woman is inexcusable especially for the leader of your team.

IF Santonio is guilty, that is despicable and he's had enough 2nd chances as well.

I wish these would both be resolved soon. But, the circus will drag on and on.

IF those things are indeed proven then I would want the same thing. That said, I have no credible reason to think that they are indeed true. For that reason I hope Ben and Santonio light up the skies this year and get probowl berths on their way to another SB victory.

Do you really believe this woman's story? I mean the cops wouldn't make an arrest...that tells me I can't take this woman's story at face value. Not to mention throwing a drink in a woman's face is one thing...rape is another.

I think you are miss-reading the popular opinion.

I do not believe any Steelers fan wants to "cut or trade" Ben. Unless,of course, he is found guilty.

I do think we are all disgusted by his behavior, and feel he should be punished by the team- even if found innocent, or no charges are filed.

I do also think that many fans feel like it might be highly questionable as to whether or not Ben ever grows up. And it is this lingering concern that might make some feel that the team may be best off by capitalizing upon his trade value now- rather than wait to see what they are left with - after the next "offense".

In respect to Santonio Holme's situation- he has now been involved in multiple legal Domestic issues (3 I believe) and at least one Drug related issue.

Let's assume the team has done some investigating- and found that this event did occur. (Based upon the released story- it should be fairly easy to determine if it did or did not happen.) Holmes is going to be suspended. How long is the only real question.
So, in this situation- should the team get whatever they can for him now- or wait for the almost certain next event.

Lastly Shawn, and unfortunately, I think it is also probable that many fans afford Ben a bit more leniency. A solid #2 border #1 receiver is much more easily replaced than a top 5 franchise QB.

i feel the same way. if either are found guilty i think they should be gone. if i didnt mind poor values and felons i would be a bungles fan or ravens. i dont think ben will be found guilty and very well may never even go to court. not sure how holmes case will play out.

Cops didn't arrest Ben either. I'm not sure that makes anyone innocent or guilty.

Also, like Ben, Santonio has been accused of assaulting (though not sexaully) a woman before.

I'm not cutting either one of them any slack at this point. I need more facts before I judge them, BUT I'm disappointed for the Steelers and if they are guilty, they should go.

I just have a feeling that Hines is going to miss significant time this season. That's why I still believe that if Sweed shows something we will keep 6 WRs.

Are the police doing an investigation into this horrid drink throwing incident? Even if what she said happened...she was in the VIP and asked to leave by Holmes...which is his perrogative. Maybe he did lose his temper whe she wouldn't comply and threw a drink in the woman's face. It's certainly not something I condone but I'm not losing sleep over it either. And accusations are just that...accusations. I have seen numerous cases where a husband and a woman fight and the woman will falsely accuse the man of hitting her.

Exactly. I also think it's funny that people aren't labeling this is a "cash grab" as well. Supposedly the chick agreed not to file a police report and now she is? really? It's just a bunch of bs were people figure the Steelers are in some turmoil so they might as well jump on the wagon and see what they can drudge up.

Exactly. If I'm a steeler I stay out of them entirely for a while. Put the bible thumper Tim Tebow in a steeler uniform right now, toss him in a VIP and he'll come out with an assault charge. If you ask me everyone on the team is a target right now. Women are immediately cast under a "blanket of innocence" because they are the "weaker sex" both of which are total bs. The "weaker sex" knows exactly what kind of leverage it has and uses it regularly, ESPECIALLY when mutli-million dollar contracts are involved. It's getting old and frankly I'm tired of reading all "we need high character guy" "steeler type player" threads. A select few act like we have a couple of OJ Simpson's on our team. It's amusing.

I'm with Shawn on this - a completely ridiculous charge with no merit. WTF...apparrently you can just say anything in hopes that you'll find a player who wants to pay to make it go away. What exactly is she suing for? And according to her both the police and the Club were in on the "big conspiracy". This is a joke.

We need Holmes starting and we need to not waste an early or mid pick on a WR.

I wouldn't release or trade Holmes, but it would certainly make it less likely that the Steelers are going to want to put up the big money that would be needed to sign him to a contract extension this summer. Holmes is an excellent receiver when he wants to be, but problem receivers are expendable (see Burress, P.) and problem franchise QB's are not. The Steelers need to use their cash to sign Woodley this summer.
