I would welcome Willie back. if he's gonna be a back-up, he might as well be a back-up with us.

We've resigned enough vets. Willie is on the downside of his career, and we've got plenty of those guys. Unless he agrees to a 1 or 2 year deal, no thanks. There is a reason why no one else in the league has given him a decent offer.

I'd say turn the page. Draft a RB in the 4th or 5th (Blount) since we will have traded our second and third round picks to Detroit for #34......

I'm ready to move on. I'd like to see a mid to late round guy brought in. Blount, Gerhart, McCluster, Coker.....or maybe even Spiller if he's there at 18. Just my :2c

He knows the offense and is a great team guy...bring him back.

Time to move on...there are a couple of guys I'd like to see brought in (Gerhart, Tate, Karim) & a few that we already have that I wouldn't mind seeing what they've got (Redman, Summers). Besides, we need to find a back that can either complement Mendy or be a true short-yardage back...& Parker is neither.

No thank you.
We need to get younger... all around
Thanks for the memories FWP, but I think it's time for both the franchise and yourself to move on.

I'd take a wait and see approach. I'd like to see the Steelers find a complimentary back to Mendy in the mid rounds. If they don't find one, and Parker remains unsigned, then I have no problem bringing him back on a one or two year deal for a low salary.

I agree...and what's with the Steelers this year? I mean they have become a home for all our ex, well past their prime talent. Here is a novel idea. We could save some room on the roster for all those draft picks and grab some young talent. That makes more sense to me than re-signing an ex speedster who would probably struggle to break a 4.6 now.

I would bring him back if he wanted to take the "Bus" deal that was signed by Bettis to be Parker's back-up. I still would draft Blount.

I would play it the same way. I wouldn't resign Parker until after I saw ewhat I got out of the draft. Even then I think I would shop around. Realistically, I don't know if you could count on getting 100-120 quality carries from FWP anymore. He has clearly lost a step and for a 205lb RB that is significant.
I do think to get a quality #2, the Steelers need to grab a RB NLT Round #3.

It is true that he knows the offense. Unfortunately, he can't catch so you need to throw out about 1/3 of the playbook when he comes in.

Willie doesn't fit our offense. But I still love the guy and would gladly take him back.
Give him a lead blocker and I think Willie can still lead the league in rushing.
He's still got it and someone's gonna get a steal if they sign him.

That's not true. As it was mentioned previously, he can't catch like a WR. There's a difference.

I'm not a big fan of Mike Shanahan, but one thing is certain- he knows running backs.
He could probably make my mom a 1000 yard rusher.
Anyway, the fact that he passed on WP- really says something, imo.
I am a WP fan, but if signing him costs the team the ability to groom a young back- particularly a power back - id say pass.
