Or so this dufus says...

http://www.nationalfootballpost.com/Pit ... owman.html (http://www.nationalfootballpost.com/Pittsburgh-Dallas-schedule-workouts-with-PSUs-Bowman.html)

His combine weight (242) surprised me. At 6' 242, he is more typical 3-4 inside LB size (even though those are close to Harrison's dimensions), but he sure looks like an OLB to me. I love him in space, but I feel he really struggles taking on blocks. I'm not sure about his fit with the Steelers, and I don't like him in the first round.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Bowman to drop into the 2nd Round. Still not sure he is the one I would take. Sean Lee might be better in Round 3 but really wouldn't be thrilled with either.

Ok. Could you update that first page? That would help in avoiding future confusion.

I guess Bowman is already falling. I see now where he is listed as a 3rd Rounder.

His name is listed under local visits. How would you like it updated?

I was under the impression that this thread is just a listing, but that there would still be other threads to discuss players, if people choose. Is that not the case?

In any event, he doesn't count against the visit limit, so it can't hurt to bring him in.

Didn't see that this morning. I guess I missed my coffee. :(

Wait a minute. Isn't Bowman from Maryland? Is PSU considered local? Cleveland is more local.

no it's fine. I just thought he was talking about a visit. He can discuss any player he wants. I just wanted to keep the visit stuff in one thread. I'll have to check on if he's a local. I'm probably wrong.

Smoking weed and disorderly conduct....I'd stay away from this Nittany Lion and take Sean Lee as Farrior's future replacement. Lee was a great team captain, extremely hardworking and has great instincts. He also posted very decent combine/pro day numbers. Though to be fair to Bowman, he did lose his father and high school coach shortly before these incidences, but seemingly has now straightened out his life and did graduate. Maybe he has truly changed and the Steelers are interested in his potential, which is very high.

Penn State junior linebacker Navorro Bowman was sentenced to one year of probation as well as drug and alcohol testing Wednesday after admitting smoking marijuana in the last four months.
Bowman, a first-team All-Big Ten performer for the Nittany Lions, was already on probation for pleading guilty to misdemeanor disorderly conduct stemming from an on-campus fight in October 2007.

I checked on this. He played at PSU, and last year A.Q. shipley's visit didn't count against our 30 limit so PSU is considered a local visit.

Shipley didn't count because his hometown is Pittsburgh and he still lives hers (or his parents). Bowman would count because Penn State is not considered local for the Steelers or Eagles.

So that is why? Okay. I will change it then. Thank you.

Maybe I'm old school but I prefer an OLB with a little less speed and more power. I like the bull rushers like Harrison. The finesse OLBs tend to really struggle at the next level.

I had a class with Bowman at PSU. Dude's tiny for a LB, no matter what he weighed in at.

He's just not a big framed guy. He may have put on a lot of weight just for the combine, downed a gallon of water or something before weighing in. He's not big enough to be a star in the NFL.

Any inisght on Odrick or Lee? Are they Steeler worthy?

Sean Lee is a good friend's cousin. I'd bet good money he's a stand up guy coming from that family. He'd fit right in with "the Steeler Way"

Nothing on Odrick, sorry.

I really don't care about smoking weed in college. It is pretty much understood that most college kids will experiment with weed or alcohol during college. I don't want Bowman because I don't think he is a good fit as a ILB.

Given that the Steelers have worked out Worilds, Thaddeus Gibson & now Bowman- here's betting that they are looking at OLB, and have targetted the Round 2/3 area for the position. Worilds is option 1, Gibson option 2 & Bowman the fallback if both are gone.

I don't mind looking at a OLB on day two. However, I'd prefer Jerry Hughes first, then Ricky Sapp, and finally Koa Misi. If not, then Eric Norwood early on day three.

I can't see Hughes lasting until our pick in the 2nd, but he is the best of those you mentioned.

Unfortunately, the league has essentially legalized holding by OTs when they lock up with the pass rusher. That means bullrushers aren't going to get calls. Speed rushers who make the OTs move and reach will draw the holding calls

Me neither. But he's a guy worth trading up for in the second if he's available, though.

The team has been kicking the tires of Worilds & attended Utah's Pro-Day where I'm sure they spoke with Misi. They're just doing their homework, Bowman has got to be a fallback plan.
