The Steelers can bring 30 potential draftees to visit their headquarters on the South Side prior to the draft. You get to spend more time getting to know these guys than you would just meeting them for a few minutes at the Combine.

Try to spread out your picks...maybe 10 visits devoted to the all-important potential first round picks, 10 visits to almost-as-important potential day 2 picks (rounds 2 & 3) and 10 visits to potential day 3 picks (rounds 4-7) for depth. Also, try to not focus in on just a couple of potentions (even if you feel CB is a big need, you shouldn't bring in a dozen corners, for instance, when we have several other needs as well).

On my list, I tried not have have more than 3 invitees at each position. I have 1 QB, 3 RB, 2 TE, 3 OT, 2 OG, 2 C, 3 NT, 2 DE, 3 ILB, 3 OLB, 3 CB, and 3 S. I didn't even bother with WR, since we currently have Ward, Holmes, Wallace, Randle El, Sweed, Battle, and Gresham on the roster.

You can pick some guys that you might be willing to trade up for in the first round (but don't go crazy and invite N. Suh, because that would be a waste since there would be no possible way to trade up for him...I absolutely love Eric Berry, and would trade up for him in a second if he slipped a bit, but I didn't include him because I did not think that was realistic). You can also include players that you would be willing to trade down in the first for (or even trade up in the second if they fell out of the first round).

Have fun with it.

Here are my 30, in alphabetical order within each group:

D'Oh! I forgot about the local guys stipulation! Guess that means Odrick is a freebie, along with teammates Lee, Bowman, Hull, Quarless, and Clark. And Pitt's TE's Dickerson and Byham too, plus IUP's Akwasi Owusu-Ansah, I suppose. That gives me one more spot to fill. I suppose I could go with Boise State CB Kyle Wilson there. See how he looks on green turf instead of blue.

Why not Deji Karim several rounds later? He might be just as talented. Might be a 1/10th of a second slower, but he's a little better put together and runs low.
