Here's a couple of UFAs that no one's probably even thought about:

1. Kevin Walter - WR - Houston - big target could compliment our smaller WRs. He's reliable. Good hands. He's 29. Probably has a few good years in him.

2. Ben Watson - TE - NE - Could be a nice upgrade over Matt Spaeth. He's a good blocker and receiver. Watson is well rounded at the TE position much like Miller. He would give us some flexibility in a 2 TE set. He's 29 too and a heck of an athlete.

3. Derick Mason - WR - Baltimore - He's probably 50, but if we took him away from Baltimore, we'd pretty much take away Flacco's security blanket and lock up the AFCN for the next few years. Signing Mason would be just to mess with Baltimore and their passing game.

:tt2 My friends that are Ravens fans would have a coronary if we signed Mason!

I'd take KW but pass on the other two.

Walter does have a bit of an issue staying healthy though, but for us he'd really not be more than a #4.

It's funny/sad to think he was 5th on our depth chart at one point (Chad, TJ, Henry, K. Washington, Walter) and if he were on the team now he would be #2...

Call me crazy but I'd rather have Spaeth over Watson and I wouldn't be suprised if Mason retires again. Walter would be an interesting signing.....he's reliable and quietly puts up nice numbers.

I think that has more to do w/ having Andre Johnson on the other side.

What about Mike Tomlin's old buddy: Darren Sharper???? Arguably a better player than any DB on our roster not named Troy.

I like the idea of Ben Watson. He has great hands and great speed and is a matchup problem for a lot of LBs. Problem is we have a total stud TE already so it doesn't fit with the idea of distributing the talent.

Mason I like for the reasons mentioned.

I agree that KW's numbers are highly dependent on Andre Johnson being on the other side. I could do without.

Probably out of the Steelers price range, but I would love to see Chester Taylor in Black & Gold.

Several teams expected to have interest in C. Taylor

Thu, 04 Mar 2010

Judd Zulgad, of the Minneapolis Star Tribune, reports the Buffalo Bills, Chicago Bears, Denver Broncos, Houston Texans, Kansas City Chiefs and Pittsburgh Steelers are expected to show interest in Minnesota Vikings impending free-agent RB Chester Taylor, according to the NFL Network.

I would go for Sharper in a heartbeat if the price was right. Dude just has a nose for creating turnovers and hits like a beast.

Not surprising. He was making a boatload of money and has little to show for it. When will Daniel Snyder learn?

This is a bit out of left field...but I saw RB Samkon Gado got released by the Rams. There's a bowling ball of a rb that could spell Rashard on the cheap. He has some starting experience as well.

I've seen him in a couple games that he looked great and in a couple more where he couldn't hold onto the ball.

They do need another veteran back because they have no one past Mendy and Moore. I'd still rather see them grab Owen Schmitt who can run with power, catch and block.
