They really need to have a different tag for OLB. Remember when Suggs filed a grievance when he got tagged saying he was more of a DE than a LB?
The difference in tag numbers for DE compared to LB's seems to be growing, I can see some OLB's getting angry...

Casey is considered a DT in this scenario right?

Yup. And $7 million is a pretty reasonable number. I realize that there will likely be no cap, but that is within about 10% of his cap hit from this past season.

If they can't get a deal worked out with Hampton and Reed, I expect to use the DT franchise tag and the kicker transition tag. Colon will get an RFA tender. None of our free agents are worthy of being tagged (although the will try to sign Clark to an extension, he is not worth the money required to tag a safety).

There is one more tag for every team this season I believe. So you can tag 3 players if you wanted to...

I realize that, but outside of Hampton and Reed, we don't have anyone else worthy of tagging (Ryan Clark or Tyrone Carter won't get over $6 million, Willie Parker won't get $7-8 million, Deshea Townsend won't get $8-9 million, Nick Eason or Travis Kirschke won't get $10-12 million, etc.)

Ryan Clark is who I was thinking you *might tag. I agree he might not be worth that much, but if you can't work out a long term deal and you don't get the FS you guys want early in the draft (Earl Thomas) maybe you tag him...

Transition tag for safeties is $6.011m. Clark is worth maybe half that.
