Steelers second-year WR Limas Sweed, who did not practice all week because of illness, has been ruled out for this weekend's game against Green Bay at Heinz Field.

S Troy Polamalu (knee) and G Chris Kemoeatu (wrist) were ruled out against the Packers earlier in the week.

Tyrone Carter will make his fifth consecutive start in place of Polamalu, who hasn't played since Nov. 15 against Cincinnati. Rookie Ramon Foster will start for Kemoeatu for the second time this season.

According to ESPN.com, more than a dozen Steelers are in contention to earn a spot in the Jan. 31 Pro Bowl at Dolphin Stadium in South Florida based on the latest fan voting. They are: Polamalu (first) 347,418 votes; OLB James Harrison ( first) 225,186 votes; ILB James Farrior (second) 135,311 votes; DT Casey Hampton (second) 215,587 votes; Kemoeatu (second) 156,070 votes; C Justin Hartwig ( second) 141,907 votes; P Daniel Sepulveda (second) 78,094 votes; S Ryan Clark ( third) 71,132 votes; QB Ben Roethlisberger (third) 459,469 votes; TE Heath Miller (third) 208,600 votes; FB Carey Davis (fourth) 70,230 votes; K Jeff Reed (fourth) 63,538 votes; CB Ike Taylor (fifth) 100,066 votes; DE Brett Keisel (fifth) 99,994 votes; KR Stefan Logan (fifth) 44,231 votes. Voting ends Dec. 21, and the AFC and NFL teams will be announced Dec. 29. The votes from fans, players and coaches each count for one-third in determining the rosters.

Carey Davis? Hartwig? The system is very flawed.

If Farrior makes the pro bowl, I'll be sick. He has not even been average this season

How is Troy even in there? He's hardly seen any PT this season.

That is just the fan voting. Coaches and players have not yet voted.

And yet, sadly, he still leads the team in interceptions despite missing 8 games (plus the vast majority of the Bengal game as well, since he was injured in the first quarter of that one). He's basically been on the sidelines wearing Duce Staley's uniform twice as much as he has been on the field wearing his own uniform.

We won every game where he played the majority of the game, and we lost every game we was out except for San Diego and Detroit (and both were in doubt at the end because the defense was allowing a potential 4th quarter comeback in each game).

Considering how well our D played with him this season and how gawd-awful it has been without him, I would take it one step further and make Troy an MVP candidate (if you take "valuable" in its most literal sense). I can't imagine anyone being more valuable if their presence makes you a historically good Super Bowl winning defense, and their absence makes you lose to the Chiefs, Raiders, and Browns in the span of 19 days.

 That's funny.
