Ben is not elite with the way he's playing.

1) Poor decision making

2) Poor Throws

3) Turnovers

Elite QB's don't play this bad for this long. They turn things around.

Oh shut up. No quarterback is perfect in every game. This is not just Ben's fault, either - our whole offense is to blame for this one.

He's not HOF material yet.

Take a stroll through past games of Brady and Manning...you'll see clunkers for them too.

This loss is on more than just Ben's play today.

The whole team looked flat and mostly disinterested. The whole team.

Should they cut their losses now?

Ben didn't have a good game today. He missed some throws (Holmes in the EZ, Miller in the flat, etc.)

But to say he isn't elite? How about the 4 play, 80 yd drive last week? Every qb has a bad game, and every qb loses games. Suggesting that he isn't elite because he didn't do well against a good D coming off a short week is a bit of an overreaction.

The passes to both Holmes and Miller were catchable.

Holmes looked as though he didn't extend his arms and Miller's went right through his hands.

Miller rarely misses though so I am not gonna be too upset with him. It's bound to happen.

The whole offense looked like they were tired today. Maybe stoned.

He's fine. He was just a little off. If just a couple of plays went different, this woulda been a different game.

Benny needs to get stretched out of his comfort zone at some point. He might have the OC he wants and the OL he wants. But, if he is only going to be good under the circumstances, then someone needs to be held responsible for the direction of the offense.

We have all had issues with Arians before. As far as I'm concerned, he's directly responsible for all three losses so far. Where has the no-huddle been? It works every time and, basically, as often as they want to use it. Where was it today? How about Ben's inconsistency in getting the ball to his receivers. Perhaps he's working too fast because he knows the OL can't hold the pose on their scheme long enough. That happens. Problem is, the frequency with which it's happening to Ben is becoming less and less acceptable with every loss.

Champions make plays that create victory. Ben is not doing that with any consistency. OK, so Ben has done it twice in his career to this point. Will he be able to do it again? Ever? Under the same conditions he has now?

The Steelers need to address this, especially if the current labor agreement is modified from where it is now. It will not be a good thing if the working relationship between Arians and Ben stays the same but the results never again match previous outcomes. Right now, the Steelers are an uninspired football team and their opponents know this and are ready to take them to the mat.

What are you talking about? I said it before and I'll say it again, 6 Nights ago, on THE national stage, the Steelers stomped the Broncos in Denver, and everyone was anointing the Steelers as "the best in the league" with an offense every bit as impressive as their defense. Now after a 6 pt loss to a 7-1 team, other teams know that the Steelers are uninspired and ripe for the picking??? Seriously?

Ben has only made plays that create victory twice in his career? Huh? And you're doubting if he'll ever be able to make them again?

Is this teeceemadison under a new screen name????

Ben has only created plays to win twice?? Hmmm, let's see ...

18 Career 4th Quarter come-from-behind game winning drives
14-0 as a rookie
Most wins by any starting QB in his first 5 years
#5 ALL-TIME in YPA
2 Super Bowl Victories (Game-winning drive in SB43 on the biggest stage under the most pressure, starting 1st and 20 on his own 10 after a penalty)

Do you remember a game in the 06 season where Tom Brady scored ZERO points against the Dolphins?

Sorry, I forgot this is the NFL where you are only as good as your last game.

it was one game.....it is like opening up a can of pop and there is no fizz...

Through 8 games, he was completing over 70% of his passes for 2295 yards (on pace to throw for 4590 yards over the course of a whole season), and now, because he has one game in which he completed only 50% of his passes for less than 200 yards, he is no longer elite (the two Super Bowl rings be damned). Yeah, that makes sense. Elite QB's can never have an off-week. They must have a perfect QB rating every game.

He had a bad game. So did the line and the receivers and coaches. When a team is blitzing as much as the Bengals did, you MUST make them pay with screens. We have had some of the worst designed screen plays in the history of football. I only remember seeing one yesterday. It was a middle screen to Miller, and it never had a chance.

I love bens style of play. and he is my fav qb. and i would take him over manning or brady any day... no question, because he is more like me. he likes to mix it up. he doesnt need perfect conditions to succeed. like manning and brady. when manning gets pressured he dives to the ground. complete wuss. brady is a primadonna fashionista, who laughed at the thought of being held to 17 pionts by ny giants in the super bowl.

but no my friends, ben is not a better qb than these 2 pansies. and this is for one reason only. the weaklings use and have mastered the dink and dunk. ben refuses to play like this because this is for wussies (in his mind) . he wants to go downfield into the jaws of the defense. dont believe the stats, ben wants to go 15+yards. look at our last drive against the bengals (who will not win the div) he was not only off all day but he went down field every down on that last drive. forget mewalde moore. but I'v learned not to complain because the man walks the walk. put it like this, the steelers defense would decimate ben in a real game situation because of his style.

Hard to believe that people over react this much after another close game. All QB's have bad games. You just hate to see it against a division rival at home. Bengals did a good job. The season is far from over. I hope we get the chance to play them again in the playoffs.

Agreed.... I personally think we will get only a wildcard, and the division crown is now out of the question... But I want another shot at Cincy when we get there...

Ben is a great qb, but is just inconsistent at the worst of times... He's done well all season, but stunk the joint up yesterday.

It's gonna be tough sledding IMO because I haven't seen the stops/stands/comebacks that I've equated to our solid teams of year's past... I am not sure that we have the "it" factor I've seen in '05 or '08, but it's a completely different game once you get to the playoffs... It sure as heck isn't going to be easy, that's for sure.

They still have to play 7 games and so do we. Nothing is out of the question yet my friend. :)

Speaking of disinterested, I wonder if something wasn't right with Ben. He walked around on the sideline bored. I sat right there in the stands 100 feet from him.

Not to mention that for most of the 2nd half Ben stood BY HIMSELF on the sideline away from anyone. What gives? Was he hurt? Was he in a daze? Hungover?
