View Full Version : Baltimore vs. Denver: Who do we root for?

I know this is looking ahead, but has anyone thought about this?

Personally, I'm seeing some weaknesses in Baltimore's D and feel there's good reason to believe they will drop off eventually.

Denver, not so much. The only tough games they have left are NYG, PHI, and IND. If they fall to the Rats and we beat them then we hold the tie-break on them with our toughest matchups being CIN (at least on paper), BAL (2x), and maybe GB.

I hate to say it, but I'm thinking I root for the Rats. Not because of any love, I assure you, but because I think it is more favorable for the Steelers.

Tough call.

I don't know yet...

We need to win the Division, but I also don't want to have to play in Denver during the playoffs. (sans Clark).

I'll take a baltimore win, and for the Broncos to get really beaten up during the game.

No way. I always want division rivals to go down and go down hard. Looking forward to potential playoff seeding situations with teams from other divisions when we haven't even reached the midway point in the season is premature at best.

Denver. Our division is our first and foremost concern. I still think the rats are our chief divisional concern and not the bungs. Besides, let Denver believe the hype.

"Root" is a little strong. I hope it's an absolute slugfest with Denver having more points on the scoreboard than the sh!tbirds at the end of the game

In priority:

1. Win AFC North (so want all other teams to lose always)
2. Get one of the top two records in AFC to get 1st Round bye

You always want teams in your Divsion to lose.

Ratbirds to lose. Always a good day when they lose.

We root for injuries.

Not the painful kind, we don't want anyone to be hurt.

Just the kind where you have to go on IR but experience no pain or trauma.

I disagree, and my thoughts on this matter are quite the opposite. I have no problem with our opponents being hurt. A hard-hitting game that leaves them battered and bruised is fine by me. But I don't want to see anyone be injured, placed on I.R., and unable to engage in their profession for the rest of the season or more.

Denver. No question.

Need to win the division and get into the playoffs before you can worry about the road to the superbowl.

Don't put the cart before the horse.

Well, the whole point is that you are ultimately rooting for the Steelers. The fact that other games affect the Steelers means that you are now rooting for the Steelers in the form of a desired result (the one you consider most favorable to your team).

As for our chief divisional concern, I'm not so sure. We like to call them the Bungles, but I'm thinking they are the bigger threat based on what I've seen. Plus they are one game up on the Rats and their next matchup with the Rats is at home.

Hard hitting physical tie. Then no one gets the win.

We need to beat both of these teams when we play them. I'd prefer not to have to play Balt 3 times again as they are super physical.

BRONCOS....let them win get beat up a little and then have us beat another undefeated team...and oh yea let the rats lose again,

wanting baltimore to win is absurd. winning our division is all that matters at this point.

Right, I hear you. Which I I said I seek a "slugfest" whereby the rats get a victory but one that does not come without great expenditures of energy and effort. Kinda like how it usually takes us a down and dirty gritty effort to beat the rats.

I realize that the numbers and standings show the bungholes to be our primary competition. My comment was impling that it's my opinion that by the year's end, it will be the felons who will be our greatest obstacle to winning our division. Imo, the ben-gals are not as good as they appear and they will probably implode bungly-stylee at some point this season. But that's purely my opinion and I could obviously turn out to be wrong on this

I don't even care about winning the division.... I just want to make the playoffs. Remember the last time the Bengals won the division? Ring #5, baby.

As for Denver vs Baltimore. You gotta root for the Broncos. For serveral reasons:

A) Rooting for the Ravens is just wrong. (Unless we need them to beat the Bengals or something like that)
B) We play pretty good against undefeated teams. If the Broncos win a tough game, perhaps they over look us. Then we pop em in the mouf'.
C) A three way race for the division is just messy, i want to see the Ravens as far behind us as possible.
D) I kind of like Kyle Orton... until a week from next Monday.

Not important. The Steelers just need to take care of their own business and nothing else will really matter...

As much as it pains me to say, the Broncos must win. Division comes first. Plus, I like the big stage it sets for the Primetime game in Denver. The Broncos would be undefeated with the best defense (stats wise) in the league and that will just piss off our defense even more. My prediction for Orten is large amounts of pain either way.

True but I have a particular dislike of the friggin ratbirds and not much pleases me more than seeing a scowl on stupid rayrays face. Go Denver

I hope the game goes into massive overtime...Like maybe into the following day (I know they'd call it a tie but a year ago was the first time Donovan's hearing about it tells me there's an outstanding chance that some of the douche officials that seem to get dumber each passing year may be unaware and such) and they beat the living sheit out of each other with an extremely emotional one point win going to Denver. I don't want to go into Denver if the Doncos lose and I could never root for the Ravens under any circumstance other than something to benefit the Steelers.

I'm with Ruthless on this one. Always love seeing a beat down on our fellow division denizens.... whether it be by us or anyone else for that matter. Plus from what I remember, Ben got pretty banged up the last time we visited Mile High and I'd like to see him and the offense get some payback. Would be nice to take down yet another "undefeated elite NFL team."

I'm all for a Ratbird humbling this weekend, only for the over inflated donkeys to be served up on a sacrificial steel alter!!!

I guess this is the difference between being a Bengals fan for last few decades and being a Steelers fan.

Obviously we both root for the Ravens to lose every game. But after that you guys are looking at the Colts and Broncos to lose for home field advantage. Whereas I'm rooting for the Jets, Texans, Chargers and Dolphins to lose, so we're guaranteed a playoff spot...

I will be pulling for Denver. I am not sure Denver has enough to win the game. I think the Ravens come out on top.
