Following in the footsteps of NC Steeler Fan, I will be attending my first game at Heinz this week. :tt2 :tt2 :tt2 I'm originally from the area, so I know all of the local sights that I need to show my better half (who bought me the tickets for my b-day back in April, knowing that we would be in town for my sister's wedding).

My big question is parking. I looked at some parking passes on ebay and the like, and found that they were in the $50-$100 range -- is that right? Any recommendations on parking that will cost less than my seats? Also, any recommendations on where to park and/or good spots for finding a parking pass?

Also, from the thread on NC's first trip to Heinz, great recommendation on the seat cushions. Any other recommendations?

Your best bet is to park downtown and walk over. The parking authority garages downtown cost only $5 on gamedays (I ususually park at the garage at Fort Duquesne Blvd and 6th St., then walk across the Robert Clemente Bridge to PNC Park). I don't think you can park anywhere on the North Side without paying 30 bucks or more (and most of it is pre-sold anyway).

there is a new garage ( Red 5 ) directly in front of heinz field. if you look at the alco parking website it should give you a map.

you have heinz field, then going towards PNC you have lot Gold 1 and then the new garage. it has pre-solds in it but every time I drive by they have a sign out front for $30 dollar parking. if being close to the stadium is important, you may want to check that out. not sure how many are available but I drove by yesterday for the game around 11 and they sign was still up.

Jiga turned me on to a free parking spot near a park and the aviary on W. Ohio St.

It was only a short walk (less than 1/2 a mile) from the stadium...and did I mention it was free? :D

You have to get there early though.

Have fun! :tt2

PS - Ben's got a legal team...so don't bug him! :D

We parked three blocks from the stadium just past the Rivers casino place and it was $40 to park. They had two porta johns which was nice, but that was about the only thing special about the parking lot.

Wanted to do the river boat thing and get let off right in front of the stadium (have pics of this; totally cool!), but I understood that both the tailgaiting and the in-and-out was better in that direction (NW of the stadium).

Well, that and I wasn't driving!

The wait for the ride back not so nice. We probably waited for 30 min before boarding the return ferry. Nice experience, but will walk over the bridge in the future.

What made it worst was that I brought a backpack with me. :HeadBanger Had I parked downtown like I wanted we could have went back to my truck. Instead I ditched it in the bushes and of course its was gone after the game.

Just go over to Station Square and park in the garage on in one of their lots. $10. Then just pay for the round tripper on the boats.

That's where I'm going for this one.

Thanks for the advice everybody -- I really appreciate.

I've seen the Steelers in Three Rivers a number of times, and I saw them play in Philly last year, but this is my first trip to Heinz field. I'm pumped. :tt2 :tt2 :tt2 :tt2

Nice...we've got pfelix, phillyesq, and if I recall correctly, I believe that this is the game that Steeler Expat said that he planned to come up for from Peru. Plus, SN1 and I will be there as usual. Should be a great game.

We get free parking in the casino parking deck.......you just have to show your card on the way out to prove you played some.....doesn't turn out to be free sometimes (like the last game :( )
