"Stat maven Dutch Wydo, who doubles as the unofficial president of the Ben Roethlisberger Fan Club, passed along some interesting numbers this week. Through the first four games, the Indianapolis Colts are averaging 2.7 yards more per play than their opponents. The next best team in the league is Denver at 1.8 yards more per play. Any team thatís over 1.0 yard more is generally in good shape to make the playoffs."

I will now always be biased when reading Jason Cole articles knowing that he actually printed a stat MSM gave him.

I wonder how much a Denver 85 yard tipped pass for a TD skews those stats?

Jounralists have a pretty nice life like that. People pass stuff on to them in hopes of getting in a piece. And really if somebody uses your info once they will keep an eye out for you in their inbox. I've gotten two or three mentions from The Numbers Guy at the Wall Street Journal.

I say good for MSM. I never really had a problem with him except for the fact that he seemed to have a slight propensity for ad hominem attacks.

stats maven... <snort>

how many sports people that read his column know what maven means without looking it up.

And I am not talking about the Apache Open Source build tool. (If that means anything to anyone).
