My son came home this week excited as he could be trying to tell me his class was going to the Steelers home field! Wha? I asked. I quickly looked over the info the teacher sent home to me and sure enough, they sure are! The class is going to the Carnegie Science Center and then to another place, and then they end the trip with a tour of Heinz Field! Before you ask, HELL YEAH I'm chaperoning! :D Freaking Sweet!

Would the "other place" be the Rivers Casino? That would be a great place for an elementary school field trip! And the Science Center is right between Heinz Field and the new casino! Think about all of the math lessons the kids could learn!

I'm not much on gambling, and neither is my boy as far as I'm concerned. But, I guess I'd go along with it as long as I make it to Heinz! :tt1 I think the other place is the Natural History Museum or something like that?

Is it the Heinz History Center? Because the Western Pennsylvania Sports Museum is there too. They had all 6 Lombardi's displayed there for several weeks (but they left 2 days ago  ) and someone on the board (I forget who) was raving about the photos on display from the Steelers team photographer there. If you are doing Carnegie Science Center, Heinz Field, and the Heinz History Center, I have only one question for you. Do you need any more chaperones?

i would take my students to heinz field if i could, all 450+. the only problem is it would be a 4 hour ride to the stadium, but the little buggers can handle it....

Well, today's the day. My boy headed off this morning to the 'Burgh on his big field trip. Sadly, I couldn't go along because of work. He did take one of my Steelers hats with him for autographs - yes, there are supposed to be a player or coach or two there for a meet 'n greet and to sign some autographs. So, he's pumped and I proudly sent him on his way wearing his Big Ben jersey.

Well, he was a little disappointed, but there was noone there for autographs. :? But, he did get to tour the locker rooms, the press boxes, go up on the upper deck, went through the tunnel the players go through to the sidelines, and he picked me up a cool key chain at the gift store. All in all, he had a great time. In his words, "the Steelers' field was WAY better than the Carnegie Science Center."
