nothing on tv tonight so what the heck, i watched hard knocks. LMAO - what a joke.
they start with a nice game of cornhole
a guy competing for FB says no worries, he has options outside of football
they decide to run a tough camp cause 4-11 left a bitter taste - and promptly lose the top two TE's.
Speaking of TE's - is that one gay coach? really, who's he kidding - not that there's anything wrong with that....
they allow CJ to tell them all 'child please' which as he explains is a nice way of saying FU.
They cut the one FB that seemed to be performing the best
and lastly,
Mike Brown clearly has input to all the player personnel decisions. That must be the thread of futility that holds that ball of failure together.....
bungles in 09. 5-11, marvin fired before the season ends. mark it down baby....

I didn't see the show, but the Bengals TE coach is Jonathan Hayes, who played TE for the Steelers in the mid 90's.

I'm a beer pong man myself, so can't argue with that one.

It's an undrafted rookie FB, who has a child to look after. So I'm happy that he has a plan outside of football. Especially considering that something like 78% of ALL NFL players are declaring bankruptcy soon after their football lives are over.

It's called injuries, it happens.

As Ruthlessburger already pointed out, that's John Hayes.

Not the meanest stare but still a big dude.

Meh
They cut the one FB that seemed to be performing the best
Not sure why but they didn't show our best FB at all, which is Fui Vakapana, the guy we drafted. Jeremi Johnson and him are the only FB's worth mentioning in terms of actually playing on Sundays. Not sure why the Hard Knocks crew focused on JD Runnels (Who got cut) and Chris Pressely (Who will be cut soon or end up on the PS).
and lastly,
Mike Brown clearly has input to all the player personnel decisions. That must be the thread of futility that holds that ball of failure together.....

Can't argue with the Mike Brown comments. He really needs to go.
As for the record, I'm guessing 9-7 this season...

now Jom, you're a pretty good poster so I'll go easy......
I do remember John Hayes from his steeler days, i just never saw him like i did tonight. yes, you're correct the FB is an undrafted free agent. i thought his story was pretty good and found myself hoping he gets a fair shot at making the team.
as for CJ, cornholing and mike brown...........lmao.

Watched Hard Knocks also. Too bad about the TE injuries (both are likable players though laughable Bungles). The Pressley story has some human interest value and it's easy to pull for him to make the team (though is it fair to wish that upon him?). CJ just keeps on revealing himself as one big Distraction, an axis II with physical talents. IMO their D could be tough this year.

I thought the Bengals players and staff did ok. Sure, they have some stupid and annoying players, coaches, and personnel guys. But, so do we. I can just imagine if HBO interviewed Coach Zeirlin for example. It appeared to me that the Bengals had some intensity, Chad Johnson is healthy (for now), and the o-line coach looked like the best motivator/communicator. I also noticed that Marvin Lewis always appears nervous or anxious. He seems like a nice guy, but not necessarily a motivator of men. Mike Brown is a joke. When he addressed the coaches and/or players, I could see them all suppressing their desire to roll their eyes.

78% of nfl players go bankrupt after their career ends? is that really true? man that seems very high, that is pretty sad. i wish former players could manage their money better.

As I've said for a while now, the Bungles concern me....if Palmer is 100%. They still have weapons, and their D is much improved. That week 3 matchup could be a HUGE game this season.

i agree their defense is young and has some talent. i was impressed with their draft and they seem to be making some good moves in the fo except for the williams signing was a little puzzeling. i think they will be one of the more improved teams from last season

I still think the Bumgals will be 9-7 and #2 in the AFC North. They will suprise this season and take advantage of an easy schedule much like the Phins last year.

The Bengals will be no better than 8-8.
Palmer, if healthy, will obviously help but I think we're all reading too much into how much their defense improved. Remember that they were playing behind a TON last year so teams took the air out of the ball in the second half.
That's why they were something like 12th in yardage but but tied for 19th in scoring.
Also, remember that they've been terrible at rushing the passer the last couple years and I don't think Tank Johnson or drafting MJ is going to turn that around.

no concerns until they beat us... for some reason I think Santonio Holmes O.T. TD in 2006
set the tone for the next 5 to 6 years...

My bad for the strong response Starlifter, had a couple beers (7) before that post. Shouldn't drink and post.
As for Hayes, I'm actually not a big fan of his. I mean how many Bengals TE's have been even decent in recent times? Not sure if that his fault though or Brat's for not utilizing the TE well in the offense. I want to blame Brat more than Hayes but for now I'll blame both...

I was a bit off: http://www.usatoday.com/sports/football ... rils_x.htm (http://www.usatoday.com/sports/football/super/2006-01-28-retirement-perils_x.htm)
"In fact, 78% of all NFL players are divorced, bankrupt or unemployed two years after leaving the game, according to Ken Ruettgers, a former player and current advocate for NFL players transitioning from professional sports."

Plus you also have Jonathan's brother Jay on your coaching staff as your d-line coach. He was our special teams coach a decade ago. I don't recall good things from our special teams back then.
