Remember last year: Browns edition

May 29, 2009 3:25 PM

Posted by ESPN.com's James Walker

Here is what more AFC North readers, particularly Cleveland Browns fans, had to say about the division around this time last year.

* "Super Bowl 43 will be Green Bay vs. Cleveland."
* "The Browns and Steelers will be playing each other in week 2. Let's see who is talking then."
* "Pitt's coaching staff would trade there secondary for the Browns secondary right now."
* "UNLEASH THE DAWGS!!!!"
* "Outside of the secondary, the Browns are stacked, period. Best roster in the AFC North. Now it's a matter of putting it together on the field."
* "I'm calling it now...Browns Super Bowl 43 Champs!!!!"
* "Browns were not a fluke last year. Some of the losses were."
* "Defense will step up this year. Browns will go 10-6 and win the North. Squealers 9-7, Bungals 7-9, Ravens 5-11. Ben Roeslesswhatever will be on his back all year because of the hole where Faneca used to be."
* "Cleveland does look to be a dangerous team. If I was a Browns fan I would be excited. Cleveland, Detroit, Boston, and NY are putting competitive teams out there in all the major sports."
* "I see Cincinnati or Cleveland winning the North title."
* "The Steelers lost the best player on their team, Alan Faneca. They will be way down. Corey Williams will be a huge difference as a DE in our 3-4. He's got size and speed."
* "Browns will go 11-5 and win the AFC North. I honestly think the Steelers are going to have a down year this year."

* "Enjoy 2nd place, yinzers."

Hilarious!! It's nice to start my day with a laugh!!

The only one that was remotley correct was about Roethlisberger spending all season on his back.

they ended the season with 24 straight quarters without an offensive touchdown...WOW, how can you compete with that?

That amazing!! Especially with all the offensive fire power that they were supposed to have.

Its kind of eerie this year. I haven't heard once that the Browns are going to win it all yet. You don't hear about their huge off-season acquisitions that are going to put them over the top.

Could this mean that 2009 will actually be their year???

Absolutely classic. Off season NFL champs, forty-three years in a row and counting.

Every year it's like this. Each offseason, a team makes moves that have all the "experts" drooling over them & they end up not being very good. Last year, it was Cleveland. The year before that, I think it was Carolina. This year, I think it may be Chicago.

HA! I forgot about the Skins'. I think that is because they are always over rated going into the season, and that I'm to the point of not even paying attention to what is said about them anymore....

I keep hoping it's the *Pats who do this!
