Just for kicks:

OK- We are less than 48 hours now from the NFL draft. I'd like for everyone to take a moment and just list 2 names on who you are predicting the Steelers to pick with their 1st 2 picks. I know many have their choices listed under their sigs, so now is the time to make any last minute changes.....

Let's get everyone on record with this thread and just have some fun.. It'll be neat to see who got what right.. I'll predict that many of us might get the 32nd pick right, but the challenge will be the 64th. If you think they trade up or down, you can list the number they will pick at and who they pick..

Some Planet Steelers bragging rights for a week or 2, I suppose.

:tt1

I'll get the ball rolling------

Long time reader, first time poster. The picks.....

#32. Ron Brace
#64. Duke Robinson

I think our most pressing need is DL. I would love to see WR and OL addressed early as well. I think our cb's are good enough if we can get pressure with our LB's again. Gay looked solid when he started and I like the potential Roy Lewis showed last preseason. A couple of udfa's in the mix and we should be ok.

Another scenario I wouldn't mind is if Mack fell to 32 taking him and then Ziggy Hood at 64.

I just want to thank all the posters on here. I look forward to getting on here daily for my steeler "fix" of the latest. This is the best site i've found on the net for steeler reading.

In the past 9 years under Kevin Colbert's regime, the Steelers have drafted-
1 1st round Offensive Lineman (Kendall Simmons) &
1 1st round Defensive Lineman (Casey Hampton).

The rest have been 'skill' players.

You all think he's going to draft OL & DL in Rounds 1 & 2?

2) OT - Meredith (trade up)

Chadman...

Colbert had never selected a 1st round RB either... until last year. I realize Colbert does not 'typically' like to choose OL or DL in the first round. I think this year he realizes we have drastic need to upgrade the 'talent' on our OL. That can't be done with much certainty in the later rounds. That's what Colbert's been trying to do and that's why we're in the mess we're in now. I think he will go back to back, just like he did LB/LB two years ago.

I don't know why, I'm literally flailing about this year... colbert has switched on the spyhunter smokescreen and I'm that bullet-proof blue car spinning around and crashing into trees.

I am going with these two.

1. Alex Mack
2. Jarron Gilbert

With these two players, we will have strong youthful anchors on both lines for a long long time.

Might I add that I can't wait for tomorrow! :tt2 :Boobs :tt2

Not sure whether to call you a copycat or a smart man.

Since I don't want to sleep with the fishes, I will go with the latter.

It's not personal, only business. These are two offers that we cannot refuse.

By the way, here are my picks for the rest of the draft.
3 NT Sammie Lee Hill
4 ILB Jason Phillips
5 OT Augustus Parrish
5 CB Joe Burnett
6 WR Quan Cosby
7 DE Zach Potter

Lots of Fili lovers!!! :tt1 Hope the steelers feel the same. Only wrench is that I dont believe Fili lasts to #64. The Steel Brass has to love the idea of Fili making way for our linebackers enough to use our #1 pick. I say Fili must be the wanted man in PBurgh this year and all we have to do is sit there and take him when our turn comes around. We dont have to trade up like for Polamalu or Stonio.

I doubt either of those guys fall that far (I think Britton goes in the 15-25 range and Wood goes in the 35-45 range), but if that first day came to pass, I would be quite happy. Last year, I thought that Mendenhall was a top 15 guy and Sweed was a late first round talent, so there was no way I thought that they would last until #23 and #52, respectively, so you just never know what might happen on draft day.
