Looks pretty good to me.....I would go into next season with this team!! I think the only weak spot is the WR position but if the team can bring in a receiver like Ronald Curry or Drew Bennett to fill that 4th WR role then they are pretty much set. The draft would bring youth and competition to both sides of the line and a CB to compete with Gay and Townsend for the starting role opposite Ike. I would have liked to have brought in a FS to groom just in case we lose Clark next year but you can't address all needs in one draft.

Alright let me hear some opinions and perspectives. Look forward to the input.

But, but..... there's no Alex Mack there for us.... I see he went early with the Bills, but that just can't happen......

Kidding aside..... It's not bad, but I must admit- I don't know much about Byrd as a CB. We do need another CB.

You do have 3 OL in there and there isn't enough room for all 3 of them on the roster. But you never know until camp starts. They do know quite a bit about the boy from York. So, maybe......Then again, a swap of Beatty and Ayers on that list might be in order too.

You obviously put a lot of work into your mock, but if the Steelers have Beatty and Byrd to show for the first two rounds, I think I might cry. I'm just not sold on Beatty at all.

I totally agree. Beatty and Byrd would cause me to get ulcers. Much better players will be available. Count me in the group that isn't sold on Beatty. I also don't think we need to look CB until Round 3 at the earliest.

I'd rather see interior line and DL in Rounds 1 and 2. If history is any indicator don't be surprised if Colbert grabs a WR in Round 1 and 2. He goes after skill positions early. It will be funny to hear all the "experts" on this board go absolutely insane if that happens.

That is an excellent mock draft

I think I could live with that, but not sure if Beatty is going to be BPA.
I think I would consider Ayers or Butler at that spot as well, but I am not a professional scout.

2009 NFL Draft:
32. Pittsburgh Steelers: William Beatty, OT / Connecticut
64. Pittsburgh Steelers: Jarius Byrd, CB / Oregon

3. Terrance Taylor, DT / Michigan
4. A.Q. Shipley, C / Penn State
5. Ricky Jean-Francois, DE / LSU
5. Louis Vasquez, OG / Texas Tech
6. Brian Hartline, WR / Ohio State
7. Brandon Summers, FB / UNLV
7. Donald Washington, DB / Ohio State

Good effort, I just don't agree with it...too many poor fits or back-ups here.
1. Beatty = Too finesse
2. Byrd = Nice player, but slow & there's better value in later rounds ( Martin & Mickens)
3. Taylor = He'd be a better value in 4th & I think they like Baker (Hampton) & Walker (GT) better.
4. Shipley = Too short...in height & arms to handle the point...stop the love-affair.
5a. Francois = DND...has "bust" written all over him.
5b. Vasquez = I like the pick...Kemo part 2.
6. Hartline = Another poor fit...if you're going to take a WR, take one with promise like Eron Riley (Duke) or Dominique Edison (SFA).
7a. Summers = I like the pick, I just think he'd be gone at this point.
7b. Washington = He'll be gone way before this because of his workout numbers, but if you go CB here...then why not Burnett, Carey or Lankster - all who visited the Steelers?

Nice Mock Draft.

I think we can get Jarius Byrd or Micken in Rd 3-4. Steelers can use Rd 2 on Fili Moala or Phil Loadholt.

We need to draft a OG a bit early than Rd 5.

I am not sold on Beatty. I would prefer Fenuki Tupou or Loadholt in later rounds.

* Jacksonville trades 1st (8) to Denver for 1St (12) and 2nd (48)
** Browns trade Braylon Edwards to NYG for 1st (27) and Sean Smith
*** Bengals trade Chad Ocho Cinco to Phi for 2nd (53) and '08 4th Rounder

In the Jacksonville-Denver trade, the Broncos are giving up 1620 points (1200 + 420) of value for a pick worth 1400 points. They could probably get away with the 12 pick and their 3rd round pick (79th overall), which add up to 1395 points (1200 + 195).

In the Browns-Giants trade, I'm assuming you meant Steve Smith, not Sean Smith.

In the Bengals-Eagles trade, I'm assuming that you meant a '10 4th rounder, not a 4th rounder from last year's draft (of course, the Eagles did take 3 guys in the 4th round in '08, so I guess they could decide to trade Mike McGlynn, Quintin Demps, or Jack Ikegwuonu).

You are correct about the Browns and Bengals trades!!! I actually meant a 2nd and 4th for Ocho in '09!!! I realize that I gave up too much for Denver to move up to 8 but I think once we get to that point they will be desperate and will need to make a move that doesn't go by the points....teams do it all the time.
