The Visits are now done. Here is an interesting exercise... a mock draft from the visits: ( I dodn't do it, because as many of you know I have never done a mock draft - too much of a wussbag).

http://www.steelerslive.com/blog/gmstee ... kie_visits (http://www.steelerslive.com/blog/gmsteel/2009/09_mock_draft_according_rookie_visits)

Now that the steelers have met with all the prospects that they are permitted, the following is what the draft might look like according to who they met with.

Potential RD1 picks:
A.Mack - C
M.unger - C
V.Davis - CB
A.Smith - CB
L.Delmas - S
J.Gilbert - DE
Predicted Pick: J.Gilbert - DE

Potential RD2 picks:
H.Johnson - OG
A.Levitre - OG
F.Moala - DT
D.Scott - DT
P.Loadholt - OT
L.Murphy - WR
L.Sidbury - LB
Predicted pick: P.Loadholt - OT

Potential RD3 picks:
AQ.Shipley - C
L.Vasquez - OG

M.Mickens - CB
Prewdicted pick: AQ.Shipley - C

Potential RD4 picks:
J.Burnett - CB
M.Thomas - WR
S.McKillop - LB
B.Long - LB
Predicted pick: J.Burnett - CB

Potential RD5 picks:
CJ.davis - OG
F.Summers - FB/RB
N.Davis - QB
Predicted Picks: CJ.Davis - OG & F.Summers - FB/RB

Potential RD6 picks:

Potential RD7 picks:

The selection are based on the assumption that all the prospects will still be available when the steelers pick.

Let me know what ya think.

Nice selections. Close to what I have selected in my Mock. If we are pulling from the visits then I would replace Mohamed Massaquoi with WR Louis Murphy. He fits in the round I have us taking a WR. So my mock would look like this.

1.32 C Alex Mack
2.64 DE Jarron Gilbert
3.96 WR Louis Murphy
4.132 DT Sammie Lee Hill
5.168 CB Joe Burnett
5.169 G Louis Vasquez
6.205 DT Ra'Shon Harris
7.226 FB Frank Summers
7.241 CB Ellis Lankster

That is an excellent mock draft. :P

(and yes, it counts as you finally doing one after all of these year...if you just listed the numerous possibilities for each round, it wouldn't be a mock draft per se. But you gave a projected pick for each round. That's the definition of a mock draft, wussbag).

You didn't read it completely. I didn't do that. I copied the link and the content from somewhere else.

I am still a mock draft Virgin.

Weren't you guys looking at Eric Wood as well? He would probably be in the 1st or 2nd round group, depending on who you listen to.

BTW, really good mock draft...

Personally, I don't like this particular mock. It's all a matter of personal opinion of course but I really hope we go oline at 1.32. Specifically, Mack, Unger or Wood (C/G). And as for that 2.64 pick, we already have big, slow tackles who have trouble with fast speed rushers on the edge (Loadholt). Mauler at the point of attack but not exactly a pass blocking specialist

If players and other players that were not on that list (ex. wood) are there at 32 we definitely need to drop back in the second. We could get more value.

What would you prefer:
option 1) Mack
option 2) Wood and an extra 3/4th (not sure of what the value is to drop back) round pick/
and with that extra pick use to trade up for target players in 2nd 3rd round.

I, personally, would have a hard time passing on Mack. But, if we could find a trading partner, picking up an extra 3rd or 4th (4th is always where we strike gold!) would be sweet.

Round 4 has gotten us Deshea Townsend, Aaron Smith, Larry Foote, Ike Taylor, Willie Colon, and Daniel Sepulveda in recent years. However, it also got us Carlos King, Danny Farmer, Matthias Nkwenti, Fred Gibson, Orien Harris, and Ryan McBean during that same time period. Six hits, six misses.

I'd take Woods and the extra 4th in a heartbeat. The difference between Woods, Unger and Mack is very small. Each has strengths over one of the others.

I like it except for Murphy. He isn't all that great and reminds me of another Dallas Baker.

I'd do the following:

1.32 C Alex Mack
2.64 DE Jarron Gilbert
3.96 DT Sammie Lee Hill
4.132 CB Joe Burnett
5.168 WR--Choice of Austin Collie, Mike Thomas, Deon Butler
5.169 G Louis Vasquez--need an OT more than G. Lydon Murtha, OT
6.205 DT Ra'Shon Harris--Zack Potter, DE is better fit and Harris will probably be UDFA
7.226 FB Frank Summers
7.241 CB Ellis Lankster

Great way to lay it out MJG.

Now that you've slotted all those guys into rounds, odd are we won't pick any of them ;)

Sign me up for that! Of course, I didn't really have to tell you that, since half of those guys have been in my sig for the past few weeks.
