Cards Sign Kreider
Posted by Mike Florio on April 2, 2009, 2:20 p.m. EDT
The pipeline from Pittsburgh to Phoenix continues to convert former Steelers into Cardinals.

The Cards have announced that fullback Dan Kreider has agreed to terms.

Kreider signed with the Rams in 2008 after eight years with the Steelers.

He has appeared in 113 career games with 66 starts. He started Super Bowl XL as a member of the Steelers.

The move likely means that veteran Terrelle Smith, a free agent who spent the last two years in Arizona, won’t be back.

By my count, six former Steelers are now on their roster: Kreider, McFadden, Haggans, Tuman, Morey and St. Pierre.

The only one I would take back is McFadden.......Whiz can have the rest.

Not to mention that their staff includes Ken Whisenhunt (Steelers tight ends coach 2001-03 and Steelers offensive coordinator 2004-06), Russ Grimm (Steelers offensive line coach 2001-2006 and Steelers assistant head coach 2004-06), Kevin Spencer (Steelers special teams coach 2002-06), Matt Raich (intern in the Steelers player personnel department 2002-04 and Steelers offensive assistant 2004-06), and Mike Miller (Steelers public relations and operations intern 1994-95).

Probably more Steeler fans than Cardinal fans are paying attention what's going on with Whiz's team

Yup. Cards fans owe the entire Steelers franchise a big thank you for all of their team's recent success.

My prediction for 2009 is that his team will suffer a Super Bowl hangover and not even make it to the NFCCG. You heard it here first. The Boldin situation could prove ugly for them.

The Kreider situation is the one thing I'd question Tomlin about. Seems like, for whatever reason, Dan got on Tomlin's **** list pretty early and then he was gone.

I agree - the pundits who jumped on their bandwagon quickly forgot the Cards were a 9-7 team with 6 of those wins coming from their pathetic division. When they come falling back to earth this coming season the excuse will be the "Super Bowl hangover" not "they were never that good anyway".

krieder's on the verge of being washed up anyways...he's not going to make a major impact for the cardinals
