Steelers | Ward has no plans to retire soon

http://www.kffl.com/gnews.php?id=558715

Teresa Varley, of Steelers.com, reports Pittsburgh Pirates WR Hines Ward said he has no plans to retire any time soon. "People always ask how long I want to play," said Ward. "It won't be until the day I feel like I can't get open or be productive. I have got enough out of football with this great organization so that the day I lose it, I will walk away from the game. I don't see that any time soon. I am looking forward to training camp and getting back at it."

This video of Hines playing wiffle ball is proof that he is probably better than 90% of the Pirates players, so why not? Larry Foote just looked like an average Pirates player.

He'd probably just be a pinch runner...when there is a guy on third he comes in for any potential plays at the plate. Then we woulda had many catchers making like Bart Scott and getting out of the way to save their careers...

Hines is more of an athlete thana football player, so being drafted by MLB doesn't suprise me. I can see him getting plunked in the shoulder, and just wearing that shat-eatign grin all the way down to first base, then proceedign to steal second and bowl the catcher over on a play at the plate. Smiling all the way back to the dugout. Would I take that in a Pirates uniform? Absofuggenlutley!

Hines would be the guy playing the outfield yelling "swing, batter, batter, batter, miss"

:tt2

The article about Hines being drafted into baseball is over at http://steelerstrong.proboards.com in the Pirates section...other Steelers players were considering baseball as well...there were like serious baseball ties to the SB in fact.

Nah...there have been good hitters that ain't exactly been svelte. John Kruk, Cecil Fielder, Kirby Puckett, Tony Gwynn...and some old dude named Ruth.
