I just heard Fred Taylor is a Cheater now. That bastage.
Haynesworth reaches agreement with Redskins: $100 million deal...not sure of complete terms yet. EDIT: 7 yr 100 million/ 41 million guaranteed in first 3 years. He's first 100 million defender.
DeAngelo Hall signs with Redskins again. 6 yr 54 million 22.5 million guaranteed. 30 Million in first 3 years.
A whole bunch of visits are scheduled for several players.
Lets keep signings in this thread. Can we get a sticky?

They guaranteed him 40 million over the first three years of the contract. Is the guaranteed money distributed over the life of the contract or does it have to be distributed only during the guaranteed period?

Albert Haynesworth signing with the Redskins = Dana Stubblefield signing with the Redskins several years ago. Big money DT's that won't live up to expectations on their new team.
My issue is that Harrison's agent will now think that his NFL DPOY client is worthy of such a stratosphere as well, which the Steelers would never even consider. This is why we wanted to get a deal done before the start of free agency, because stupid teams tend to set the market at unreasonable levels.

Damn. I wanted that overrated, hines-owned s.o.b to remain in our division. Hopefully the felons will at least break the bank for ray ray and have him "dancing" far past the zenith of his career into the pile what with his 7.34 40-yard closing speed

Forgot to mention that the Texans traded Sage Rosenfels to the Vikings. Vikes gave up 4th round pick and then signed him to a 2 yr 9 mill contract. So you have to expect he has the inside track to start over Tavaris.

The National Football Post reports that inside linebacker Bart Scott has agreed to terms with the Jets on a multi-year contract.
Adam Schefter says the deal is expected to be signed later Friday for roughly $8 million a year. Scott, like new teammate Calvin Pace, is highly versatile and intelligent. The Jets have the makings of a great linebacker group, and Rex Ryan will know how to maximize Scott's talent after coaching him for years in Baltimore. This signing makes a lot more sense for New York than getting the downside of Ray Lewis' career. Baltimore has to be deeply disappointed, but they seem likely to increase their efforts to sign Lewis now.

If crappy Bart Scott's new deal is worth $8 million per, Harrison's agent has to be looking at a deal averaging at least 8 figures per year. This is why a deal should have been finalized with Silverback before free agency started. This sucks.

Good. Kemo isn't worth 4 million a year. Stapleton did decent at RG and he was an undrafted free agent. We can get a guy at #32 in the draft. Who knows. Maybe Legursky put on 15lbs and is ready to roll. Guards need to be smart, strong, and fast. Legursky is was a power lifter who was the fastest center when he came out. Maybe he added some bulk and is ready to roll. Having speed at LG to pull and lead the charge in the run game would be nice.

Mike Vrabel-LB-Chiefs Feb. 27 - 2:24 pm et
Chiefs acquired Mike Vrabel from the Patriots for an undisclosed draft pick, pending a physical.
As friendly a trade as you'll see. Bill Belichick and buddy Chiefs GM Scott Pioli both know Vrabel's strengths and weaknesses, and his leadership is worth more to the young Chiefs. He'll help be a coach on the field as Kansas City installs their 3-4 defense. We suspect Vrabel will not be an every-down player, and will focus on rushing the passer. He was due for a lesser role in New England, who will go young at a thin OLB spot.

Does Vrabel's exodus mean that New England goes after Derrick Brooks now (provided he doesn't choose to retire after being released by Tampa)? He's the kind of LB they typically sign (i.e. old LB's that were once great).

As for Derrick Brooks, Ruthless, he was on Sirius today and is taking his time to find the right match. He sounded like he was surefire to keep playing...but as he was signing off he told the hosts to talk to people at NFL Radio and see about getting him the 3rd host on the show he was on (which he is a normal contributor to). So it seems like he is trying to find out all his options...he sounded pretty serious too.

Kerry Collins-QB-Titans Feb. 27 - 4:03 pm et
NFL Network's Adam Schefter reports that Kerry Collins has agree to terms with the Titans on a two-year, $15 million contract with $8.5 million guaranteed.
Considering that he was summarily benched for Vince Young three years ago and was a league average quarterback in 2008, Collins did well for himself as a 36-year-old free agent. The Titans are paying a premium to bank on the veteran's stability for two years while waiting for the light to flip on for Young. Absent Albert Haynesworth, the Titans are going to need Collins to be more than a game manager next season. That's not a recipe for success.

J.J. Arrington-RB-Broncos Feb. 27 - 4:36 pm et
Broncos agreed to terms with RB J.J. Arrington on a four-year contract.
With Peyton Hillis, Correll Buckhalter, and Ryan Torain in the mix, Arrington is very likely to remain a return specialist and third-down back. The Broncos figure to run a committee, but Arrington probably won't see the ball more than he did in Arizona. He's not a fantasy factor.
DeDe Dorsey-RB-Bengals Feb. 27 - 4:44 pm et
Bengals re-signed RB DeDe Dorsey.
Dorsey's hasn't been able to stay healthy long enough to carve out a role as a third-down back. He could have a pass catching role if the Bengals re-sign Cedric Benson as the lead back.
Source: ESPN.com
Correll Buckhalter-RB-Broncos Feb. 27 - 4:36 pm et
The Broncos have agreed to terms with RBs Correll Buckhalter and J.J. Arrington on four-year contracts.
Barring another signing or draft pick, the Broncos will likely use a committee with Buckhalter on early downs, Peyton Hillis in short-yardage, and Arrington in passing situations. Ryan Torain could also be in the mix. Expect more frustration fantasy-wise from the Denver backfield. Buckhalter, 30, has a long injury history and has never shown the capability of holding up to a heavy workload, so don't expect more than 10-12 touches weekly.

Long snapper Paxton signs with Broncos
Posted: February 27th, 2009 | Adam Schefter | Tags: Denver Broncos, Lonnie Paxton, New England Patriots
The change that has swept through this country is blowing through New England, too.
On the day the Patriots were completing a trade of veteran linebacker Mike Vrabel to Kansas City, New England’s veteran long snapper Lonnie Paxton signed a five-year, $5.5 deal with the Broncos that includes a $1 million signing bonus. The deal makes Paxton the second-highest paid long snapper in the NFL, slightly behind Cleveland’s Ryan Pontbriand.
An eight-year veteran in New England, Paxton will best be remembered for the snow angels he made after Adam Vinatieri kicked a 23-yard field goal that beat the Raiders and propelled them into the 2001 AFC Championship Game.

Ravens could lose Scott to Jets; Lewis gone, too? Posted: Adam Schefter | Adam Schefter | Tags: Baltimore Ravens, Bart Scott, New York Jets, Ray Lewis
As if it weren’t bad enough to lose linebacker Bart Scott, now the Ravens are in serious jeopardy of losing free-agent linebacker Ray Lewis, too.
The Jets are expected to sign Scott to a contract worth about $8 million per year that could land in the range of $40 million total. He traveled to visit with the Jets this morning. The Jets also are hosting a visit for Baltimore free-agent CB Corey Ivy. He could be yet another former player of Ryan’s in New York that comes in, helps the Jets learn the new defensive system and contribute on the field as well.
Meanwhile, sources close to Lewis were adamant Friday that one of the game’s greatest defensive players will not return to Baltimore and his career with the team is over. For some reason, Lewis has been rubbed the wrong way in the lengthy negotiations that have occurred between he and the Ravens. Now, Lewis is determined to move on, even if there is no obvious suitor.
The Dallas Cowboys have insisted they will not be signing any high-profile free agents, and there are no other teams that, at the moment, jump out as potential landing spots for Lewis.
Thus, one of Lewis’ confidants was asked if it were possible that the Ravens now could change their linebacker’s mind.
“Not if you knew Ray like I knew Ray,” was his response. He even mentioned retirement as a possibility ahead of returning to Baltimore and insisted it was not a negotiationg ploy. “That’s Ray,” the source said.
For now, Lewis plans to take a couple of days, ponder his plans and then come up with his gameplan. But his gameplan now does not include the Ravens, according to those who know him. Thus Baltimore could wind up losing Lewis to another team or retirement, Scott to the Jets, center Jason Brown to the Rams (Brown is scheduled to visit St. Louis) and Ivy to the Jets.
Change came to this country in January and it looks like it’s coming to Baltimore as well.

Looks like Fred Taylor's a Cheat* now....
Updated: February 27, 2009, 6:06 PM ET
Taylor joining Patriots as free agent By Len Pasquarelli ESPN.com
The New England Patriots addressed their need for depth at running back on Thursday evening, reaching an agreement in principle with free agent Fred Taylor.
Jaguars RB Fred Taylor topped the 11,000 yard mark in a win over the Lions in Week 10.
Taylor, an 11-year veteran, was released by Jacksonville last week for salary cap reasons, after playing his entire career with the Jaguars. The 33-year-old was scheduled to earn a base salary of $6 million in 2009 and was also due a $1 million bonus in coming weeks.
Taylor agreed to a two-year, $5 million contract that pays him $3 million in 2009 and $2 million next season.
"I have tremendous respect for Fred Taylor, both as a person and as a player whose production is outstanding," Patriots coach Bill Belichick. "I look forward to working with Fred as he joins the rest of our running back group."
The addition of Taylor provides the Patriots a veteran back who could battle fourth-year veteran Laurence Maroney for the starting job. It also continues the Patriots' recent tradition of adding veteran backs to bolster their depth chart.
Last season, New England signed veteran LaMont Jordan as a free agent, and before that it was Corey Dillon , who gave the Patriots experience in production at running back before his release. The New England roster also features much-traveled veteran Sammy Morris, who has been effective for the Patriots as a role player.
Maroney, the team's first-round choice in the 2006 draft, has been anything but durable in his brief career, suffering through a series of injuries that have limited him to 30 games and 15 starts in three years. Taylor, however, has also been hampered by injuries over his career.
The 16th-leading rusher in NFL history with 11,271 yards and 60 touchdowns, Taylor visited on Wednesday with Buffalo Bills officials. At the time, there were strong indications Taylor would sign with the Patriots' AFC East rival. But the Patriots persuaded Taylor to leave Buffalo without a contract, and coach Bill Belichik's sales pitch proved effective.
Taylor, Jacksonville's first round pick in 1998, was a productive back for the Jaguars during his 11-year tenure. The former Florida star appeared in 140 games and was one of the most popular players in the community.
By releasing him, Jacksonville officials seemed to elevate Maurice Jones-Drew to their No. 1 running back and are currently negotiating a long-term contract with him.

I guess McDaniels was pushign for Cassell over Cutler so now Cutler wants traded. Didn't Denver have a really good passing game last year and their main problem was the run game and defense?

I think Cutler is 10 times the quarterback Cassel is...so McDaniels is stupid...just because he is familiar with Cassel doesn't make him better than Cutler, who I think has the most potential of any of the QB's that are 25 and under in this league (since Ben is now 26, he has graduated from that title). That would have been a coup for Tampa if it had happened. Way to screw up the H.C.-Q.B. relationship before your first game has been played.

I was just thinking of the pi$$ poor Ravens. I drafted for those numskulls in the mock draft last year (and I have them this year too) and if I remember correctly, I drafted Keith Rivers for them in the 1st round. My thought was at the time, getting them a replacement for Ray Ray.. I traded up thru the second and got back into the late 1st again only to get beaten out by the Falcons who snared Flacco. I took Henne.
However, in the REAL draft, the Falcons took Ryan and the Ravens still ended up with Flacco. They could've done what I did and got both a LB and their QB.
Too freakin bad Ratbirds....... You missed out on getting your replacement for Ray Ray last year. Then again, Hines would've just popped his jaw of out place anyways.....

Source: Canty leaves Dallas for NY
By John Clayton
ESPN.com
The New York Giants continued to beef up their defensive on Sunday, reaching their second agreement with a lineman in two days with the acquisition of former Cowboys end Chris Canty.
Canty, according to a source, reached a six-year, $42 million contract. Another source told ESPN.com's Matt Mosley that $17.25 million of the deal is guaranteed.
On Saturday, the Giants signed former Seahawks defensive tackle Rocky Bernard for around $4 million per year, according to a source.
Even though Canty played end in the Cowboys 3-4, he is expected to play tackle for the Giants. Sensing Canty was going to have a market in the $7 million per year range, the Cowboys didn't have the room to keep him.
The former fifth-round pick started 48 consecutive games over the past three seasons and had two starts in his rookie year in 2005. Last year, he had 37 tackles and three sacks for the Cowboys.
Canty had narrowed his decision Sunday to the Giants and the Packers. He had a tentatively scheduled a trip to Seattle for Monday, but he was notified early Sunday morning that the Seahawks were going to sign Packers defensive tackle Colin Cole.
Senior writer John Clayton covers the NFL for ESPN.com. Matt Mosley covers the NFC East for ESPN.com.

Washington added a 4-3 DT in Haynesworth and subtracted a 4-3 DE in Taylor. If they were going to draft a d-lineman early, it would likely be a 4-3 DE. That wouldn't impact us at all, since 4-3 DE's and 3-4 DE's are entirely different animals. A 4-3 DE that they might be interested in would likely project to a 3-4 OLB (which is obviously not a need spot for us). Shouldn't impact us whatsoever.

It's amazing that the Steelers can be perceived as "cheap" since they are always pushed up against the cap. They just don't give out stupid contracts like other teams do.
That said, is BMac worth 7mil a year? What is Ike's contract?
Ike's deal is five years for $22.5 million with a $6.4 million signing bonus. However, that was signed in 2006. A lot has changed since then.
Bmac at the very most is worth what Andre Goodman got from the Broncos--5 yrs/$25M. I wouldn't pay him anything more than that. Even that is taking a risk he can stay healthy. If he balks let him leave and bring in Leigh Bodden or Patrick Surtain for a look see.

I don't get the analysts who were critizing Birk just because he didn't do so great against the Eagles. That Eagles D-Line did pretty well against almost everyone they faced.
I was happy to see Jason Brown leave, but Birk replacing him is just as bad...

Browns signed TE Robert Royal, formerly of the Bills. Scout.com's Adam Caplan reports the deal is worth $10 million over four years.
It only includes $3M guaranteed, but is essentially the same deal Buffalo gave Royal three offseasons ago. Now 31, Royal figures to be the Browns' starting tight end with Martin Rucker working in on passing downs. Neither is likely to catch more than 30 passes or be worth fantasy consideration.

Adams has deal to return to Browns
By Len Pasquarelli
ESPN.com
With starting safety Sean Jones testing the free agent market and likely to leave for another team, the Cleveland Browns have secured a possible replacement.
The team has reached an agreement with safety Mike Adams, an unrestricted free agent who played the last two seasons with the Browns, on a three-year contract. Financial details were not divulged.
Adams, 27, is a five-year veteran with 67 appearances in 23 starts. He started five games for Cleveland in 2008, but spent most of the season as the team's third safety. Adams began his NFL career as an undrafted free agent with San Francisco in 2002.
For his career, the former Delaware star has 220 tackles, two sacks and seven interceptions. He is expected to challenge for a starting job in 2009, particularly if Jones departs as expected.

Bills sign Owens to one-year, $6.5 million deal
NFL.com Wire Reports
ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. -- Terrell Owens needed only two days to find another place to play.
The Buffalo Bills decided to take a chance on the talented but high-maintenance receiver, signing Owens to a $6.5 million, one-year deal Saturday.
Owens' initial impressions
Terrell Owens had some interesting things to say when he sat down for a one-on-one interview with buffalobills.com. Find out his thoughts on joining Buffalo. Watch
The news was first reported by NFL.com's Vic Carucci.
The 35-year-old Owens caught 69 passes for 1,052 yards and 10 touchdowns last season with Dallas. But the Cowboys were looking to improve the atmosphere in the locker room and decided they would be better off without him.
"I'm leaving America's team (for) North America's team," Owens said at a news conference.
The Bills will be Owens' fourth stop. He started with San Francisco, bounced to Philadelphia -- where he helped the Eagles get to a Super Bowl -- and then to Dallas.
"I must move on, and it's another beginning for me," Owens said. "If I can be that extra added piece to get them to the playoffs, then that's what I'm here for. I looked at the defensive side of ball and offensive side of the ball, and these guys have all the pieces."
The Bills were in need of a receiver to take the pressure from Lee Evans. They got one of the biggest names out there.
"We all know of his tremendous ability and look forward to what he will bring to our offense," Bills owner Ralph Wilson said in a statement. "This is a very exciting day for the Buffalo Bills."
Owens, a six-time Pro Bowler, is among the NFL's career leaders in catches, yards and touchdowns. Over the last three years, his 38 touchdowns are one more than Randy Moss and he's among the league's best in catches, yards, yard per catch and yards per game.
He's coming off the ninth 1,000-yard receiving season in the last 11 years.
"We got one of the premier playmakers in a playmakers league," Bills chief operating officer Russ Brandon said.

For the Bills, the signing is their biggest splash since acquiring quarterback Drew Bledsoe in a trade in 2002. Team officials flew to Miami Saturday morning, flew back to Buffalo with Owens and agent Drew Rosenhaus, and signed the deal in the late afternoon at Bills headquarters.
"'Wow!' was my first reaction," Evans said. "I know we were looking at some different receivers out there. When he was cut by the Cowboys, I didn't know if we were going to make the move for him or not. We did and it worked out. I'm very excited for everybody."
The question now is how T.O. will deal with Trent Edwards, who is only entering his second full year as starter. Jeff Garcia, Donovan McNabb and Tony Romo have all had dicey relationships with Owens. Edwards isn't nearly as accomplished as any of those players and the Bills' offense has been abysmal in recent years.
The Bills were 25th in the NFL in yards gained and failed to have a 300-yard passer. Buffalo has ranked 25th or lower in each of the past six seasons in total offense.
"I'm looking forward to getting together with Trent, Lee and the guys and putting some points on the board," Owens said. "That's what I've done everywhere I've been, and it's going to continue."
Coach Dick Jauron has often complained about the Bills' lack of scoring punch, but this represents a serious change in philosophy for a team that in the past has tried to avoid taking on disruptive locker room personalities.
Owens, though, isn't worried about his perceived selfishness in Dallas.
"That's all hearsay," Owens said. "If you look at all the comments coming from my teammates with the Cowboys the last three years, it's all been positive. Prior to that, I really don't want to get into it."
Owens becomes the Bills fourth free agent addition this offseason. Buffalo has also signed cornerback Drayton Florence, backup quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick and former Panthers offensive lineman Geoff Hangartner.

Former Eagle OT Tra Thomas goes to Jacksonville
http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=3963930
Source: Thomas gets 3-year deal
By John Clayton
ESPN.com
Archive After spending 11 seasons in Philadelphia as one of the top left tackles in pro football, Tra Thomas is heading home to his native state of Florida as a member of the Jacksonville Jaguars.
On Monday, Thomas agreed to a deal with the Jaguars, which a source says covers three seasons. The value of the contract wasn't immediately known, but Thomas, a native of DeLand, Fla., is happy to return home.
The Eagles made Thomas, who played at Florida State, the 11th choice in the 1998 draft. He started 165 games as an Eagle and he went to three Pro Bowls.
The 34-year-old Thomas will be the starting left tackle in Jacksonville replacing Khalif Barnes, who is a free agent.
Thomas has missed just eight games in his career. Although the Jaguars cut several veterans in the offseason and vowed to rebuild through the draft, they felt Thomas was too good a player to pass on.
Senior writer John Clayton covers the NFL for ESPN.com. Information from The Associated Press was used in this report.

Former Jaguar LB Mike Peterson signs with Falcons
http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=3966813
Updated: March 10, 2009, 12:05 PM ET
Sources: Peterson, Falcons agree
By Len Pasquarelli
ESPN.com
ATLANTA -- The Atlanta Falcons took the first step toward revamping their linebacker corps on Tuesday morning, reaching an agreement with unrestricted free agent Mike Peterson.
Peterson 32, will sign a two-year contract, league sources confirmed; financial details were not immediately available. Peterson visited with team officials and coaches on Monday and Tuesday.
The contract reunites Peterson, a 10-year veteran, with Atlanta coach Mike Smith, who served as Peterson's defensive coordinator with the Jacksonville Jaguars. It also provides the Falcons a versatile veteran, who should compete for one of the outside linebacker spots.
Peterson began his career at outside linebacker, playing there for four seasons for the Indianapolis Colts. When he signed with Jacksonville as a free agent in 2003, he shifted to middle linebacker, where he has started ever since, even though he was considered undersized.
The Falcons have a starting middle linebacker they like in second-year veteran Curtis Lofton, who is coming off a strong rookie campaign.
But the team lost outside linebackers Keith Brooking (Dallas) and Michael Boley (New York Giants) in free agency. The Falcons' only current outside backer with much experience is Coy Wire, a part-time starter who replaced Boley in the lineup for the second half of 2008.
Last season, Peterson fell out of favor with Jacksonville coach Jack Del Rio, and the Jaguars did not attempt to retain him in free agency.
Peterson, who played at Florida, was a second-round choice of the Colts in 1999. For his career, Peterson has played in 137 games, with 127 starts. He has 745 tackles with a high of 137 tackles in 2002, and he registered 100 or more tackles in four straight seasons (2002-2005).
Peterson also has 19½ sacks, 15 interceptions, and 22 passes defensed.

Patriots agree to terms with Leigh Bodden
Posted by Christopher L. Gasper, Globe Staff March 10, 2009 03:08 PM
According to a league source, the Patriots have agreed to terms on a one-year deal with free agent cornerback Leigh Bodden.
The 27-year-old Bodden was released by the Detroit Lions on Feb. 9, after a season in which he had one interception -- although it was the only interception by a defensive back for the 0-16 Lions, who had just four interceptions total last season.
The Patriots brought Bodden in for a free-agent visit on the first day of free agency (Feb. 27), but Bodden departed Foxborough without a deal. Now, he has one.
In 2008, Detroit traded massive defensive tackle Shaun Rogers to Cleveland to obtain Bodden (as well as a third-round pick) and then signed him to a four-year, $27 million contract extension. They cut him before a large roster bonus that would have kicked in the contract was due.
The 6-foot-1-inch, 193-pounder is a good fit for the Patriots because he flourished in Cleveland when former Patriots defensive coordinator Romeo Crennel was his coach.
Bodden, who spent the first five seasons of his career with the Browns, had a career-high six interceptions in 2007 with Cleveland. He picked off 11 passes and was credited with 39 passes defended in the three seasons Crennel was his head coach. During that same three-season time period, Bodden, who spent his first two NFL seasons as primarily a special teams player, started 36 of the 38 games he played in for the Browns.
Bodden now joins Shawn Springs in a retooled Patriots secondary.
Upgrading that unit was apparently a priority for Bill Belichick and the football operations staff after a 2008 season that saw only the Arizona Cardinals (36) allow more touchdown passes than New England, which surrendered 27.
The Patriots were also tied (with Detroit and San Francisco) for second in the NFL in most opponents' completions of 40 yards or more, allowing 12; only the Jacksonville Jaguars (17) allowed more.

That Cheaters' secondary doesn't look all that more intimidating. Bodden helps, but I'm not sure Springs can be the contributor he once was. I'm not too worried about them yet...until they trade for Peppers.

Pork Chop always seems to be hurt, though. We brought him in last offseason, kicked the tires, and passed.

Source: Smith, Ravens agree
The Baltimore Ravens are not waiting until the NFL draft to add quality depth to the tight end position.
According to a source, the Ravens have agreed in principle to a one-year, $1.5 million deal with former Philadelphia Eagle L.J. Smith. The tight end is visiting Baltimore Wednesday and could have a deal finalized by the end of the week, pending a physical.
Smith, 28, spent the past six seasons in Philadelphia, where Ravens head coach John Harbaugh spent most of his career as an assistant. Baltimore is looking for an additional receiving threat and depth at tight end to play alongside current starter Todd Heap, who's had several injuries in recent seasons.
Smith recorded 37 receptions for 298 yards and three touchdowns for the Eagles last year. A former second-round pick in 2003, Smith has 231 career receptions in 85 games. He also had visits with the Atlanta Falcons and Detroit Lions.

St. Clair brings experience to Browns
Creating competition at right tackle and perhaps adding an experienced starter, the Cleveland Browns signed nine-year veteran and unrestricted free-agent John St. Clair on Tuesday.
St. Clair received a three-year deal, worth $9-10 million, from Cleveland.
St. Clair had played the past four seasons with the Chicago Bears, who attempted to re-sign him. The loss of St. Clair, coupled with the offseason retirement of John Tait, leaves Chicago without both of its 2008 starters. St. Clair was a key player to retain for the Bears, but their offer was well below the Browns' proposal.
At the very least, St. Clair will compete with veteran Ryan Tucker for the right tackle spot, formerly held by Kevin Shaffer. The Browns recently released Shaffer to avoid paying him a roster bonus. There were rumors that Schaffer would re-sign at a lower salary, but the edition of St. Clair probably makes that a moot point.
At the worst, the Browns gained a solid No. 3 "swing" tackle with experience starting on both the left and right sides.
Originally drafted by the St. Louis Rams in 2000, the former third-rounder is joining his fourth NFL franchise. St. Clair has played with the Rams (2000-03), the Miami Dolphins (2004), and the Bears (2005-08).
Although he started 16 games for the Rams in 2002, St. Clair wasn't regarded as a full-time starter until signing with the Bears. He played his best football, by far in Chicago, and started all 16 games in 2008.
For his career, St. Clair has started in 55 of 107 appearances.

Apparently Corey Ivy is skidding :moon from one steaming pile( :ratsuck )to another( :brownssuck )

Source: Browns reach deal with Ivy
The AFC runner-up Baltimore Ravens have lost a third cornerback this offseason, with veteran nickel defender Corey Ivy reaching an agreement with the Cleveland Browns.
Details of the contract, confirmed by a team source, were not yet available.
Ivy joins starters and Pro Bowl-caliber players Chris McAlister and Samari Rolle as prominent cornerbacks who have departed the Ravens. McAlister and Rolle have been released.
Ivy is not at the same performance level as Rolle or McAlister, but he is one of the best nickel cornerbacks in the league and a solid part-time starter. The Ravens have signed free agents Domonique Foxworth and Chris Carr to rebuild the cornerback position, but the loss of Ivy is a fairly significant one.
The much-traveled Ivy began his career with New England in 1999 as an undrafted free agent from Oklahoma. He played for the Patriots as a rookie, and also has been with Tampa Bay (2001-2004), St. Louis (2005), and Baltimore (2006-2008).
Although he started 11 games in 2007, Ivy has settled into the nickel role and likely will assume the same role for the Browns. He has played in 102 games with just 21 starts. For his career, Ivy has 278 tackles, interceptions and 23 passes defensed.
Last season with the Ravens, Ivy appeared in all 16 games with just one start, and had 52 tackles, no interceptions, and three passes defensed.

Dolphins get this DT from the schwags
Dolphins acquire D-lineman for late draft pick
The Miami Dolphins on Friday acquired injury-prone defensive tackle Tony McDaniel from the Jacksonville Jaguars for a seventh-round draft pick, ESPN's John Clayton has reported.
It's uncertain which of the Dolphins' three seventh-round choices they've dealt. They had previously obtained seventh-round picks from the Cleveland Browns and Carolina Panthers.
McDaniel, listed at 6-foot-7 and 310 pounds, probably would be a better fit at defensive end in a 3-4 scheme. He's too lanky to fill the role of the run-stuffing nose tackle.
The Dolphins need to keep McDaniel healthy to get a return on the trade. He has been in the NFL for three seasons but already has missed 23 games with wrist, hip and knee injuries.
McDaniel made his only three career starts for the Jaguars last season. He recorded 22 tackles, a half sack and three quarterback pressures in 10 games, ending the season on injured reserve.

My dream is dead...
Eagles agree to terms with Weaver to fill fullback void
Associated Press
PHILADELPHIA -- Fullback Leonard Weaver has agreed to a one-year contract with Philadelphia, giving the Eagles a much-needed blocker in the backfield.
Weaver spent his first four seasons with Seattle. He ran for 130 yards and caught 20 passes for two touchdowns last season.
The Eagles played without a true fullback most of last season, and it cost them in several short-yardage situations. Converted halfback Tony Hunt started but was cut after seeing limited action. Defensive tackle Dan Klecko was moved to fullback and Kyle Eckel was signed off waivers to add depth.
Weaver, at 6-foot and 242 pounds, is a solid blocker and can be effective with the ball. He has 356 yards rushing (4.4 yards per carry) and one touchdown in 46 career games. He also has 60 receptions for 547 yards.

And to further kick dirt on your dream, BungHoles sign a RFA, a fullback, to an offer sheet. Could be an effective combo having this guy plowing open holes for an attitude-adjusted, chip-shouldered Cedric Benson. However, it's most likely the vikes match this offer..

FB Tahi signs offer sheet with Cincy
ESPN.com
Three-year veteran fullback Naufahu Tahi signed a restricted free-agent offer sheet Friday with the Cincinnati Bengals.
The offer sheet was originally reported by the St. Paul Pioneer-Press. It was then confirmed by agent David Lee.
"We signed it this morning," Lee said. "We'll just have to see what happens."
Tahi has only 23 touches in three seasons with the Minnesota Vikings, didn't register a rushing attempt in 2008, and has only six carries for his career. But the former Brigham Young standout is a strong lead blocker and helped clear the way for Minnesota tailback Adrian Peterson last year.
He would fill the same lead-blocker role with the Bengals.
Because he is a restricted free agent, and Minnesota tendered him a one-year contract at $1.01 million, the Vikings retained a right of first refusal. The terms of the offer sheet, believed to be for one year, were not yet available.
The Vikings have seven days to either match the offer by Cincinnati or pass on it. If they match it, the Vikings will assume the major terms of the offer sheet. If they opt not to match, Tahi will move to the Bengals, and the Vikings will receive no compensation, because Tahi originally entered the league as an undrafted free agent.
Coincidentally, it was the Bengals who signed him in 2006.
Tahi spent some time on the Cincinnati practice squad. He was later waived, and signed with the Vikings.
For his career, Tahi has played in 26 games with five starts. He has six carries for 15 yards and no touchdowns. He also has 17 catches for 44 yards and no touchdowns. Last season, Tahi started five of the 16 games in which he played.
Tahi is the fourth restricted free agent to sign an offer sheet with a different team this year. The other three were all matched by their incumbent teams.
They are: wide receiver David Anderson of Houston (by Denver); defensive back Jarrett Bush of Green Bay (by Tennessee); and New York Jets defensive back Abram Elam (by Cleveland).
