I'm pretty wiped out (drove 3+ hours after the game to get back to my aunt's place around 4:00 a.m. and then had to get up at 7:00 to get ready for our flight this morning), so I won't be able to offer much coherant commentary about the experience just yet, but here are a few pictures of us at the game, with the double-sided Tomlin "Yes We Can" and Myron Cope designs that I borrowed from the internet and blew up to poster size (Myron was there with us all game in spirit, countering Fitzgerald's Yoi with a Santonio Double Yoi!).

Plus some pictures of Santonio's unbelieveable catch from the Jumbotron, and a shot of the referee confirming that it was a TD after further review:

And lastly, the only video I took during the game, since we had the ball at the 1 yard line on the end zone right in front of us:

RUTHLESS!!! Awesome stuff. Outstanding view. Can't wait to hear anecdotes of the trip...had to be very memorable. So you are 2-0 at Super Bowls? Better make sure you get tickets next year dammit!!!

2-0 at Super Bowls for me. You better believe it. My Dad went with me to Detroit, and when we were leaving on Friday, he left us a note that started out with "Three years ago, we started a tradition. Whenever a Wescott (my last name...you didn't think it was Ruthless, did you? ) attends the Super Bowl, the Steelers become World Champions. Keep the tradition going, gentlemen!"

Yeah...I was pretty much speechless as well (and not just because I'm as hoarse as...well...a horse, I guess).

I was hoarse too. My students laughed at me all day. It was worth it.

You are a lucky man Ruthless, Im happy for you.

What would you say was the ratio of gold to red in the stadium?

Good hearing from you Saturday, DoS!!! Hopefully you were able to scout out a quality Steeler bar in the West Palm area. We ended up eating at a Miller's Ale House (I think in Jensen Beach, maybe?) that night, before taking my aunt out to see "Gran Torino" at the theatre in the mall across the street from it. Great flick, by the way. Clint is awesome.

As for the ratio, it was definitely more than 10 to 1. Perhaps closer to 20 to 1. There were a few small sections (maybe 3 of them) directly opposite from me in the other corner that were mostly red, but when the towels starting waving, there was gold in them thar hills as well. I'm not sure how it looked on TV, because an empty seat throughout the majority of the stadium was red (although they were green in my section of temporary seats that aren't there for Buccaneer games), so a Steeler fan who got up to use the bathroom during the game might give you the impression of there being a Cardinal fan there in that spot, since you just saw red for that empty seat. There were a few crazy devoted Cardinal fans with their faces painted, giant mascot bird heads, and the like, but they were few and far between in comparison to Steeler Nation being out in full force. If I had to guess, there were probably about twice as many Cardinal fans at Raymond James Stadium for the Super Bowl as there were Raven fans at Heinz Field for the AFC Championship game. It was much more like a home game than a neutral field, no question about it.

Good stuff! Goosebumps all over again!

I lost my voice too...still don't have it back. I kept screaming things like "The longest play in Super Bowl history" and "Ben has two rings...Peyton has one...Eli has one...Ben = TWO Mannings" and other such nonsense!

What a great day it was and I am so glad I went to the Burgh to enjoy it. People couldn't believe that I live in WI but am a Steelers fan and that I drove there just to watch the game with other Steelers fans.

RB, as for the crowd, they didn't show it much on TV, but even in a VERY crowded Bettis' Grille chants of "Here we go Steelers, here we go" could be heard coming from the crowd. There was no doubt that it was a Steelers home crowd.

Are you back home now, or are you still in the Burgh for today's parade?

Apparently you haven't looked at the stlrz d's Playoff Fantasy Football Challenge v2.0 thread. :D

I wish I could have stayed for the parade. I'm sure it would have been every bit as fun as it was after the game. I just saw some footage of the parade route and the sidewalks are PACKED with people!

That's awesome Ruthless, but you forgot one thing while you where in Tampa. You almost single handily jinxed the whole thing. But don't worry, I saved the day.
