Read the paragraph about 2/3 of the way down through the article...dont worry, its a good article otherwise.

I wonder if Dan would endorse him now that he has begun his assault on the 'Steeler Tradition' of hard knocks and intimidation.

Dan was the man who informed Goodell that he got the job, actually.

Well that sure demonstrates who is at the top of the pecking order as far as NFL owners is concerned. The way the article reads, it appears that he also stood up at an owners meeting and officially endorsed Goodell before the vote on him by all the owners.

That is what I heard, too. He was Rooney's guy the whole way.

Yeah. And remember when Rooney came out and said that the Patriots cheating had not influenced the outcome of those AFCCGs?? That killed me

Was he going to say that the cheating HAD been an influence? Of course not, any furtherance of the issue turns some bad publicity about cheating into senate hearings. It must have gotten to the point where he felt the Steeler organization needed to make a statement about their position on the issue. So yeah he said it, but Dan was just following the company line, he had no choice.
