View Full Version : A recent memory regarding the Steelers/Broncos 1998 AFCC

While reading through all the Super Bowl coverage this week, and remembering Cowher's AFC Championship record, it reminded me of something I had forgotten about until about two days ago. Go back to January 11th, 1998, another Steelers home AFC Championship game. My Dad and I witness the 7-6 win against the Cheats in person (we sat in the endzone end where Kordell ran in for the only score the Steelers had all game) and were hoping for another shot at Lombardi #5.

Of course, most of you remember what happened. Kordell throws into triple coverage, Elway converts to Shannon Sharpe near the end of the game to seal the win, all of that. Another coulda, shoulda, woulda to end the season. But that wasn't the worst part. My Dad tells me a few days later that, had the Steelers won, my Godfather would've had TWO SUPER BOWL TICKETS for us. Yes, we would've been in San Diego to see the Black and Gold take on the Pack for it all. But, it wasn't meant to be. Thanks Korky. :HeadBanger

(well, it was hard to root for him anyway after what he did to Michigan in 1994  )
