Troy is the Best Safety in Football Today. Period.

Reed had 1 chance to mark his territory with a pic, and he dropped it (Sweed helped?).

Big time players don't disappear in Big Games. Ed who?

Totally agree. Troy is a beast and would rather have him than Ed Reed anyday!!!!

Troy P. took this game over. Ed Reed had no noticeable effect whatsoever. 'Nuff said!

In all fairness. If ED REED was playing for the Steelers today he would have intercepted FLACCO 4 times. Flacco locks onto WR's and Troy was just robbing him all day.

Not to take anything away from TROY ... he's great and that's why LeBeau gives him the freedom to move around.

While Troy and Ed are both Safeties, they are really playing two different positions (Strong and Free). They are both amazing players, BB was just smart enough not to tempt Ed like Joey did to Troy.

They're both great & as we all know - they just play the position differently. Ed baits, Troy instigates - but I'm glad Troy stepped up big after all the fawning over Reed lately. Troy's awesome in his own right & the country (& media) just need to see it.

In all fairness, Ed sits back in deep coverage all game and pays less attention to the run than any safety I have ever seen.
Troy focuses on the run AND pass. And STILL got Seven picks.

What would Troys interceptions be if he played Reeds game?

And please don't give me any "but Ed is a free safety" nonsense.

Ryan Clark has over twice the tackles that Ed Reed has.
Troy makes big plays whether he makes a pick or not.
Troy alway makes plays.

Reed is a non factor in games without a pick like last night.
Even before his pick six Troy was dominanting the game.

Troy P > James Harrison

Troy P > James Harrison

Funny you mention Harrison.
It is the same thing that makes Harrison better than every one trick pony sack specialist.
Harrison gets a hundred tackles AND is a QBs worst nightmare.

16 sacks and a hundred plus tackles?
The last guy who did that went by the initials LT and was not a Charger runringback.

i dont think harrison had a sack last night but he was amazing. he made the LT commit a big holding penalty and had some really nice tackles. they could of called at least 3 or 4 holds on harrison but they never do

IMO both are great, but the difference is.......

Ed Reed plays the traditional position of FS better than any other FS in the game.

Troy plays SS in a way that nobody can and does it at a tremendously high level. Have you ever seen a SS line up at the LOS pre snap, and still be in position to defend the pass 30 yards downfield? He is a hybrid safety - corner - linebacker. :Clap

Umm, while ed reed does tend to sit back...there's a reason for that: HE CANT TACKLE!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dude is the Deion Sanders of Safeties. How he let Holmes run 40 yards without getting a hand on him amazes me. Ed Reed would not have made the play Troy made when he sacked Flacco on that designed playaction rollout. I know rushing is not Ed Reeds game. But Troy can rush and sit back. He proved yesterday that there is no comparison. In overall game, Troy has way more. Done deal.

Oh, and Troy finally convinced me last night that he is the best DEFENSIVE PLAYER in the league. Harrison deserved the DPOY for his good year and stats, but no one is more valuable than Troy it appears. He was everywhere yesterday.

It appears that we're not the only ones to think so:

Quoting Peter King from SI:

e. For a great player, Ed Reed was absolutely invisible Sunday. The stats say he had two tackles and a pass defensed, but I don't remember him doing a thing.

Enjoy your off season, Ratbirds. :moon :ratsuck :tt2
