I saw on the NFL site that Dermonti Dawson and Rod Woodson are both finalists for the HOF. Somehow I doubt that they'd let two Steelers in in a single year, but here's to you boys!!! :Beer :tt1

Both are deserving and I hope make it in this year. Best CB of his era (including Neon Deion) and best Center of his era. We have a good shot at at least one.

Total finalists are:

Bruce Smith
Rod Woodson
Shannon Sharpe
John Randle
Dermontti Dawson
Cortez Kennedy
Cris Carter
Andre Reed
Richard Dent
Russ Grimm
Bob Kuechenberg
Randall McDaniel
Derrick Thomas

Senior Committee considerations are';

Claude Humphrey
"Bullet" Bob Hayes

Also, Paul Tagliabue and Bills owner Ralph Wilson are nominees as contributors

I think yer 2009 HOF Class will likely look something like this:

Bruce Smith
Rod Woodson
Cris Carter
Andre Reed
Derrick Thomas
Paul Tagliabue

I think Dirt will get in maybe next year or in 2011. His contribution to his position will go beyond being "duly noted".

Always liked DT. It's a shame he's not around for this.

He died on my birthday. :(

Little bit of trivia about DT with a Steelers connection. He had 7 sacks against Seattle to set the single game sack record. He almost had 8 but Dave Kreig got away from him and threw a game winning TD to Paul Skansi.

I didn't remember that...I went and checked out his wiki page and saw it and Paul's name jumped out at me. So who else remembers Paul Skansi? :P

He died on my birthday. :(

DT was as helluva ball player and the circumstances surrounding his paralysis and death were hugely depressing.

It's time for him to get in.

On my list, I can see Dirt being chosen over Reed...and I hope I'm right about that as Reed should probably be the one waiting instead of Dawson.

The only automatic on my list, looking at it from the leagues standpoint, is Tagliabue. Former commishes are always locks.

that would be special if both Dawson and Woodson were elected.

Canton would be awash in Black and Gold next August. :tt2 :tt2

This is Dawsons fourth year of eligibility, i believe- and while he is completely deserving- I am not so certain he gets in...

And Woodson, in his first year of eligibility may suffer the same fate....

I question whether either is enough of a media darling to generate the 80% requirement.

Bruce Smith, OTOH, is loved by the media- and will deservedly get in 1st time.

I think that Woodson and Smith are the two sure things. Dawson is very deserving -- what he did from the center position was simply incredible. I hope that he receives the recognition that he deserves -- I just doubt that it will be this year, especially if Woodson is inducted.

Funny to see the Rats fans crying about their beloved Art not being a finalist.

haha good one. they dont go in the hof as a member of any team unlike baseball. i always thought that as well up untill a couple of years ago. i like how baseball does it and a player has to chose what team they go in the hof as. we all know what team rod would chose!!
