ESPN radio is reporting that the Pro Bowl being the week before the SB is a done deal, and that it will be in rotating locations.
This starts in 2010 in Miami.

So, this means any players on the 2 teams playing in the SB are de facto not playing in the Pro Bowl.
I thought the NFL wanted more of their premier players playing in the Pro Bowl, not less.

I may be in the minority but I like the idea. It is so stale by the end of the season and most of the players in the Super Bowl hardly play anyway. At least there is something to bridge the gap between championships and super bowl. Players go to the Super Bowl city any to party, now more of them will be there. Its still gonna be meaningless as hell, but I'd be more apt to watch it I think...

I wish they'd scrap the whole Pro Bowl as it is.
Have all Pro Bowl Players designate a rookie from their team they want to represent them in the pro bowl.
I'd love to see some young players go out and show us what they can do at the end of the season.
Maybe James Farrior could elect Patrick Bailey to play in his spot.
Troy could elect Grant Mason
I dunno, if you don't like my idea then take the full :moon

I wouldn't mind seeing something like that...an all-rookie game or young stars game...

Wow- this idea is really really terrible. Is it just me is or is the NFL just getting worse as an organization in just the past couple years? :2c

This is absolutely horrible. How can anyone like this?
The SB teams are not represented at all.......Horrible.
The location will eventually shift to places like Detroit......Horrible.
My dream vacation is/was to take my Wife and kids to the island for the Pro Bowl.
Here is what I'd like to do to the NFL :moon

i actually think this a good thing....that week before the super bowl is dreadful and this adds a little bit of excitement...not having the super bowl teams players participating is good because if you win the super bowl you can celebrate, plan arrangements, make time for your family...going to hawaii would be sweet but can you imagine how hectic it would be? i think this is actually a good thing...

I think they should play the pro bowl in August...that way all the Favres, Cowboys, Patriots, etc. can play another game, and ESPN can do a 96 hour special to suck them all off! 8)

I very rarely watched the pro bowl before.
With this change, however, I will very rarely watch the pro bowl in the future.

I think moving the Pro Bowl is a horrible idea but i also think if they are going to move it then let that be the over seas game, send them to London or where ever and leave our regular and pre season games here. Players would still get a nice trip and Americans can sill vacation at the Pro bowl and foreigners get to see us show case our best talent.

Congrats Pro Bowlers! You get to go to Moscow this year, in the dead of winter. Pack your snowshoes.

Here's a thought. Goodell is trying to find a way to elongate the schedule and add two more regular season games. After 9 games into the season, schedule the Pro Bowl at whatever venue you want, have a week bye for everyone after the PB, then resume season with the remaining 9 games. 18 game season, with a respite mid-way to showcase the elite talent of the league while giving all the teams two weeks to recover until the latter half of the season resumes.

If you think teams fake injuries to avoid playing in the Pro Bowl after the season, just imagine how many will refuse to play if it were held mid-season. Ugh.
I say you just announce the All-Pro team and don't play a game at all. Or maybe have all the starters play as themselves in an awesome 11-on-11 Pro Bowl game of Madden. Televise that, including all of the trash talking that takes place while the best in the biz let their competitive juices flow via video games (you'd have to show it on HBO or Showtime, though, due to the adult language). Yeah, that's the ticket.

This would serve to even out the byes so that nobody gets the advantage of a week 10 bye or a disadvantage of a week 3 bye. I've long believed that Bob Kraft has compromising pictures of the schedule makers given the fact that the *'s get a week 9 or 10 bye seemingly every year, while we, to my memory have NEVER had one later than week 5.
