--------------------------

Now on to the playoffs!

1. The top 16 posters from the season make it into the Pick-em Playoffs. The top 12 trib posters have made it in, while the top 4 new posters from weeks 14-17 made it in as the lowest seeds. The seeding is determined by the amount of wins during the season. If more than two posters tie in the amount of wins, then to determine the seeding, the poster that has either:

a. Had the highest amount of times as the Weekly Winner
b. Had the highest amount of weeks picking above a .750 or higher winning percentage
c. Had the highest amount of weeks picking above a .500 or higher winning percentage

In order to make this fair, so that the lowest seed doesn't just copy the highest seeds picks, and then change one of the possible numbers to win, I ask the posters that make it into the playoffs to PM fo$lrock your picks, and then I will post them when I receive the two posters picks for the week. After the picks have been posted, the two posters can then view each others picks, and each player is allowed to change 2 of their picks for the week, if they like. But, no more than 2 changes are allowed, and those changes must be placed before kickoff of the first game.

The winner between the two posters is determined by the highest number of accumulated points for the week, and that winner moves on to play another winner from that week, while the loser is kicked out of the playoff tournament. If the players tie in the total amount of points for the week, the player with the most correct picks then moves on, if both posters have the same number of correct picks, then the highest seed moves on to next week. This is why it’s important for the lower seed to make sure that his/her picks vary from the higher seeds picks by at least one pick. So, some level of strategy is involved, and if the two posters have the same picks going into the games during that week, this automatically guarantees the highest seed a victory.

After a winner is determined, the loser between the match is kicked out of the tournament, but can continue to pick with the other lesser-nostradomouses (like fo$lrock), as anyone can pick the weekly pick-em’s for the playoffs, and I will add the point tally’s for all other posters that wish to participate, but those totals won’t determine the overall winner.

We have our first matchup of the Wildcard Round.

Ticheel is back with a vegence and is looking to make a return to the Superbowl to claim the prize that barely eluded him last year. This year he was our top poster in this contest by cruising his way to the top of the standings.

His opponent NKySteeler will be no pushover, though. NKySteeler has always been in the top ranks of this contest, and survived long enough to land the 16th spot.

These two are seperated by 7 different picks, so this one could swing in many different directions. Good luck to both of you, and i'll be seeing one of you come next week.

This one is an interesting matchup. We have one of the most solid pickers of the year, TD386Steel taking on sjdrewk, the player with the best record over the last 4 weeks. This one can go in many directions, as their picks for this week vary by 10 different questions. This one could either be a total blowout, or a nail biter. 3 of their 4 team picks are different.

Well, good luck to the both of you..

This is what I refer to as the middle zone in these playoffs. In positions 7 through 11, you probably have the best chance in the 1st round to move on, since your opponents are quite even in strenth. With that said Mnteti and Beerman in Berlin are separated by 10 different picks in this round, and any number of scenarios could happen. However, by the end of Saturday's games, someone in this matchup is going to be leading quite comfortably. But, that could all come falling down come Sunday.

Good luck, fellows.

Bradshaw's Hairdresser ran this contest for many years, before I kept it rolling. Well, this is his first time making it into the playoffs, and by far this was a solid year for him as he was in the top 5 for most of the season, and never had a bad week. His opponent Buckeyehoppy also makes his first appearance in the playoffs, and has a different idea on how this first round will shape up. This one could go in many different directions.

One thing that is almost always consistent with these playoffs is our resident "troll" from out of Pattycaker land always showing up when it comes playoff time. Bradyshawda is the only poster to make the playoffs 3 years in a row, which in itself is quite a feat. His opponent candlerman is a newcomer to the playoffs, yet is no pushover. Shawda will more than likely be biting his nails with this one, as this one seems like it could be a very close match.

Alrighty, i'm still waiting on JerryGlanville and MCHammer. These two are matched up against one another. I will extend the deadline for these two until 6:00 PM est tonight.

IF these guys don't show then I will make an amendment where the loser of this weeks games with the highest point total will move on. IF one of them shows up by 12:00 PM EST today, then that person will get an automatic bid to the second round. . If it's after 12:00, and their opponent doesn't show up by 6:00, then they have to have the highest score of all losing opponents, otherwise the top score of the losing opponent moves on.

I have received JerryGlanville's picks, but I am still waiting on MCHammer, as he is the last of the slackers. I'll give him until gametime, however this breaks my rules, which i'm ok with. .

But, if Hammer does play his picks, then to make it fair, JerryGlanville will then get to use his two pick changes at any time over the next two days.

EVIL. Yes.

Had to wait a little for these to come in, but MCHammer has finally delivered his picks to me..

With that said, these two are rookies to the playoffs, but MCHammer has always been close to making the playoffs, but this year he came through! JerryGlanville was almost always in the top 16 throughout the year, and finished as our fifth best poster for the year.

This one differs by 10 different picks, so this one could head in many different directions. May the best man win.

Our first matchup of the Divisional Round pits the 2nd seed Bradshaw's Hairdresser vs. the 16th seed NKySteeler. Bradshaw's Hairdresser has consistently picked well this entire season, and is looking to advance to the next round. His opponent NKySteeler pulled the big upset last week, by defeating the almighty ticheel in a low scoring squeaker that finished 22-21.

This matchup differs by 9 different questions, so this one can head in many different directions from a blowout to another squeaker. Good luck to both of you, and i'll be seeing one of you next week for the Conference Championships as we pair down to the final 4!

Our middle of the road matchup pits two very equal opponents with the 8th seeded shaker100 taking on the 10th seeded beerman in berlin, in what should be a very close match. These two differ by 8 total questions, but the opening game should set someone up to head down the stretch with the lead.

Gotta hand it to our resident "supertroll" bradyshawda because every year he makes the playoffs. It's almost as consistent as the sun rising every morning.

The 1st year he was the top seed, which spurred me to create the playoffs in hopes that a troll wouldn't win the contest :D..and that was successful, as he lost in the 1st round. Yes, the mighty bradyshawda was the main influence in me creating the NFL Pick-em' Playoffs.

Well, The 2nd year, he made it in as the 3rd seed, got past the wildcard week, and then lost in the Divisional Round. This year, he returns back to the Divisional Round, but can he improve and make it one step further?

His opponent, JerryGlanville will have a lot to say about how much further our resident pattycakers fan goes. As this one is going to be quite a MATCH, as this one differs by 10 different picks, with 2 of those being team picks. Good luck fellows!

Our final matchup of the Divisional Round features two newcomers to the NFL Pick-em' Playoffs. Third seeded daddyo has played this season rough, tough and amazingly strong week in and week out. His opponent, the 13th seeded sjdrewk is no patsy, though. He started this contest in week 14, when the Trib sank and I moved the contest to the other boards, at which point he started to dominate over the last 4 weeks of the season by finishing with a .746 winning percentage, and taking the top spot of the new posters. Obviously, we have two of our strongest players matched up in this round.

This one is gearing up to be a great one, as they differ by 11 total picks, with 2 team picks being different. This one could go in many different directions, and the 1st game tomorrow will set someone up nicely, to where the other poster will be playing catchup for the rest of the games.

Alrighty fellows, all of the matchups for this week are set. If you wish to change any of your picks, then please do so. Although, be warned that changing your picks can turn around to haunt you. Last week ticheel changed one of his picks, and it ended up biting him, as if he would have stayed with his original picks, he would have won his matchup. However, it can go the other way as well. If you want to change your picks, you have until tomorrow by 4:30 EST, the time the Baltimore vs Tennessee game kicks off.

With that said, here's some good old fashioned horror show to entertain your brain.

Remember fellows, this is for moving on to live to fight another day. 2 men will enter, but only 1 man shall leave.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3hQC3nkftrk

Just a reminder, that anyone can post their picks for the playoffs, and I will keep a running tally.

There was only 1 pick change, and it was a good strategic move by daddyo, as he closed the 1st game, to keep it from escaping, in the case that Baltimore were to beat Tennessee and the score was kept under 42 1/2 points. It could have been a swing of 8 points for him, but now he's keeping it to 5. Will it play out? We shall see.

Pick Changes for the week:

3. daddyo

2. Under -> Pick Change From "Over"

-------------------------

With that said, the Ravens vs. Titans game is under way, so this weeks picks are officially closed.

Good luck to all, and I will be posting the tally's after each game.

Here we go Steelers, HERE WE GO! :tt1 :tt1 :tt1

WHAT A GAME! And, man, i'm just hoping the Steelers can crush the Chargers tomorrow, because WW3 is just too enticing.

Right out of the gate, all the lower seeds are ahead, because every one of them picked Baltimore, while all of the upper seeds went the more conservative route. Either way, there is still a lot of games to be played, and a lot of points still in play for all matches.

You guys should have just copied my picks for the Arizona-Carolina game, because I was the only one to pick Steelers West and pick up 10 points in the process, and i'm not even in the hunt for the championship.

Overall, for all playoff posters, this was a brutal game that delivered very few points on the board. In fact, some of you scored the big old goose-egg on this one.

Today delivered no clear cut victories, and tomorrows opening game is going to either tighten things up, or declare some winners. Until then, here are the tallys through two games:

We have our first matchup of the Conference Championships round.. 2 years ago, Pher stormed through the playoffs as a 16th seed and took home the prize. This year, NKySteeler has a chance to become the 2nd seed to do the same. However, JerryGlanville looks to end his streak as the dragonslayer. . This one could be solved early, as 6 of their 14 picks differ, with both of them picking different favorites for the NFC matchup.

Good luck, gentleman!

The matchups for this week are officially set. beerman in berlin is hoping to head to next year's Octoberfest as a champion.. however, sjdrewk is no patsy, and has proven to be one of the strongest players in this contest since he entered it in week 14. This one could be a battle, because they have picked the same teams to reach the superbowl, and only the 3 point guess questions differ.

WELLY WELL WELL, Ladies and Gentlemen, the time is here!

It's SUPERBOWL time, and this year the Steelers have a shot to bring home the ring, along with one of our fans. So, let's enjoy the moment. As always, anyone that wants to place their picks for this one, can do so, and I will keep a tally.

The winner of the Superbowl will receive the Steelers Superbowl collection. A nice DVD set of all 5 of the Superbowl games in their entirety.

The time is here fellows.. Let's take a quick moment and realize for a second what this is all means in the grand scheme of things. Here we are at the end of the last game in the NFL season (minus the probowl, that is) and the team we follow week in and week out is here at the end, with a chance to win another title. As a Pittsburgh Steelers football fan, could it get any better than that?

JerryGlanville and sjdrewk you two have made it to where everyone else that played in this contest would have liked to be. Close to a hundred people participated in this contest this year, so to be the final 2 is quite an accomplishment.

This match differs by 5 questions. The Over/Under could decide this one, but more than likely won't be the only thing required to win, as the Yes/No questions will also come into play for points. Anyway, you have until kickoff to decide if any of you want to utilize your two pick changes.

I wish you both the best of luck.
